Another good Schrader valve trick is to super-glue a BB into the bottom of the cap. Few hours later, flat tire. Very little chance that the BB will be detected. They get it refilled, checked for leaks, no leaks, put the cap back on, goes flat again. 'Course if you go to a tire shop, often they just replace the stem if they can't detect any other leak because the valve stems are usually the source of unknown leaks.

I gotta say, I really appreciate the audio volume reduction for really loud sounds, even if it messes with the voice a bit at points. Quiet stuff stays quiet normally, and loud stuff is loud, but ANNOYINGLY loud stuff gets cut down so we know it's real loud, but I can just throw this on my headphones while I'm doing something else and I don't need to mute it whenever you spray air or use a saw. And, unlike my metalworking dayjob, I don't have to wear earplugs all day!

Safety note: Be really careful about putting flammables into that and then pressurizing with air. You could get unexpected results, especially with stuff that contains mineral spirits (Stoddard solvent), VM&P naphtha, or the like. It's safer to use CO2, Nitrogen, Argon, or mixed MIG gas for pressure if you have any on hand. Horrible Fright used to have a refillable spray can, not nearly as nicely made, but lots cheaper. Looks like they no longer carry it.

Having worked for a tire shop for six years in a previous life, I have always marveled at the engineering in the Schrader valve. And at the morons that bypass said engineering by way of using those cheap spring-loaded pressure indicator caps from the auto parts store.

We've got some refillable aerosol bottles at the shop that we fill with brake clean out of a 40 gallon drum. Best thing ever being able to soak a part in way too much solvent whenever you're too lazy to properly clean it off yourself
@rescuebox76 жыл бұрын
Better yet. I've heard of putting a BB (like an aerosol gun one) on the inside of the valve stem cap... no one ever suspects that. And as long as they keep putting it back on it keeps leaking.

I've cleaned plenty of PCs with a normal compressor. Never had an issue and I doubt I'm an outlier in that regard. You have to blow it at one spot for quite a while before moisture becomes an issue.
@eideticex6 жыл бұрын
You can get valves that go in-line at multiple points to scrub moisture out of a run of the mill air compressor. As well as much better intake filters than the crappy foam pad you get out of the box with majority of air compressors. Not at all expensive stuff, even the cheap variants work better than whatever they use for cans of compressed air you can buy for that purpose. The problem isn't the compressor air, it's a problem of what air your compressing, just like breathing around hazardous chemicals use appropriate filters and you'll get results that work for whatever your using it for.
@DancingRain6 жыл бұрын
BTW, the "canned air" isn't air at all. It's difluoroethane. (and sometimes tetrafluoroethane). It's more similar to freon than air.
@Docholliday11066 жыл бұрын
I use the Hot Shot refillable spray can. Eastwood carries them. It is more economical for our shop to use a 55-gallon drum of brake cleaner then it is to buy it individually or by the case. The HotShots are easily rebuildable and have multiple nozzles for different spray patterns. The contents are about twice to three times the average spray can.

In the biolab I worked in for a short while they used repurposed window cleaner spraybottles from the supermarket to spray ethanol around. It sure worked a lot better than the more scientific looking squirt bottles, because a mist covered surfaces way better than a jet. They're pumped with your fingers of course, so not a lot of pressure, but if you want to spray something on the cheap, it may work for you.

There are loads of refillable spray cans, i remember having one like the synbright type. Also, the schrader valve has changed a lot, the first i remember was a tube with holes in the side, and a piece of rubber slid over the tube, later there was one with an external spring, the spring pushed against a ridge in the assembly when you screwed it in.
@marcusheawood85606 жыл бұрын

If you cook a lot, those are great for cooking oil. You don't end up with the residue from the commercial cans of nonstick cooking spray. And if you put the right top on er, you get a decent atomization of the spray. I got a cheaper variant for my kitchen oil, 3 pumps with a bicycle pump and it is full. it works pretty ok, but the tip tends to get a little clogged so you end up with a bit of a sputtery splotchy spray.

Jeez man, it took me getting stuck in a hospital to find this fella. He's just kooky enough to make me laugh in the face of death, and ever doctors. Thanks for keeping terror at bay, brother. I haven't heard that kind of mixed engrish-franko-unamerican since my pawpaw passed. The accent is the only tell this dude is not Cajun as all getout. And that metric business. People here in the swamp only know the word millimeter as a firearm reference.

"some guys convert old spray cans to refillable, but I don't like that because they aren't designed for that" immediately cranks up the safety release valve. Lol

Is there anything you dont know? Definitely my favorite KZbin channel for sure! I know you said not to fuck with pressure vessels as I was attempting this similar product...didn't think to check Amazon or even knew it already existed, closes thing Ive seen is this refillable cooking oil pump can my folks have. Thanks! Wish you would put links in the doobley do's because if I'm gonna buy it, why not support the channel in that way too. It takes a shit ton of time to make these vjayos and I'm grateful for the entertainment &learning at the same time! AVE , whoever's you are, your the man!

What ave said what with the quarter turn to the tire valve. You can get free screw drivers from the horror freight. Cut the tip off then down the tip with a cut off wheel, perfect valve tool size.

Menards here in the US has refillable metal spray bottles you can charge to 90 PSI for like $9. I have several and they're super useful for everything from solvents to degreasers.

I have used your comment about loosening the valve on a truck driver who laughed because he ran me off the road. While he was in a cafe, I pulled the valve caps off both his front tires and split them. Then loosened the valve cores real good and put the caps back on. This should have let the air out very slowly until the tires got hot. I would predict a little way on down the road, he had to stop and call for service for two front flats.
