@y_fam_goeglyd4 жыл бұрын
It's one of many! My Dad was from about 10 miles max from St Clears, and his accent wasn't as strong (strong enough, just not so much as there), my mum was from Swansea, further east again, but not by much, but because she was from the "nice side", her accent was much gentler. Mine was stronger (I was from about 25 miles east again) but with a different lilt. I went to a secondary school two villages away up the hill (about 3 miles) and it served 4 big villages and farms all around, and there were about 7 distinct accents there. We could literally pinpoint to within about 2 miles as to where someone was from. And that was just a small area on the south coast! Go further east, west or up north and the accents were very different. "Gogs" (what we jokingly call northerners - short form of the Welsh for north) speak gutterally, whereas in the south we speak nasally. I'm nowhere near as good as picking out an accent now, but I was so glad I could still do it when I went to Milan. I'd been robbed, had a shitty day, returned to the railway station to gtfo, when I heard the 4 village accents I knew so well (by then I'd already moved to England). I went to speak to them and it turned out it was 2 couples who knew my parents! I felt a lot better then lol!
