Hi Shree, you know how Bengalis have a special place in their hearts for Mallus (and vice versa). So happy to hear that you have been trying the recipes and have enjoyed them. Thank you for letting us know! If you happen to take pictures, don't forget to tag us @bongeats on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter. 💛

My mother, an excellent cook, used to make this dish, which was divine. I remember her adding a tad bit of ginger while frying the veggies.

Made this dal today , sans sugar , but it was extremely delicious , and I ate all those veggies without adding potato's . What a brilliant way to eat veggies 😋.... Love❤ from Punjab !

A request from someone learning to cook, please provide alternate methods of measurements - grams is very difficult to gauge. Cups and spoons is all i have.
@ssabt12 Жыл бұрын
Actually as an amateur, grams and ml is the best way to measure..
@kundusayan110 ай бұрын
Also I presume you don't have measuring cups and spoons... You probably have regular cups and spoons for drinking your tea/coffee , eating your food. These cups and spoons vary in their capacity from house to house ( and sometimes within the house... I have a teacup that holds 250 ml of liquid and another that hold 180ml .
@ipshitasaha1239 ай бұрын
Also, cups and spoons can never be appropriate because it will always be subjective.

Thank you so much for these recipes that are never available or talked about in cities; all we have in Oh Calcutta! restaurant to rely on and it has such a limited menu. I’m making these recipes for my parents these days and we are loving the change from typical North Indian fare with onion tomato in everything! :) Love the complexity of flavours in Bengali cuisine!

It’s such a pleasure to watch your videos. Even recipes like Chilli Chicken, requiring advanced skills, are easy to follow, understand and execute. For a person who often struggles with salt measurements, I am glad not to find the dreaded mention of “according to taste” for the quantity of salt required. Thank you and keep posting!
@BongEats6 жыл бұрын
Thank you, Esha. Salt is perhaps the most critical ingredient of a recipe. Plus, not all dishes are equally salty. For example a light fish curry has to be more salty to account for the rice it will be eaten with, while a torkari that will be eaten on the side should not be as salty.

+Baishakhi Roy Very happy to hear that! While we put ginger paste in the regular bhaja moong dal, we don't put it in the version with vegetables to keep it light and emphasize the flavour of the vegetables. But even with ginger it tastes great. ☺️

I have seen all your recipes, each of them are extraordinarily good, staying away from India and especially Kolkata, your recipes have been extremely helpful to get that exact taste of my native. But one thing I want to comment on is the way u show the measurements in weight, I think its not a practical way, because most of the household doesn't have a kitchen weighing machine, it would probably be more helpful if u show the measurements in spoons or cups.. that was the only thing, otherwise the way u present the recipes, the authentication, the camera work, the background music.. just too good 🙂👌
