One of the best videos Bonnie. To see a problem shears and how to apply the basics to fix the issues.

Thank you. I'll try to do more with the sharpener sitting with me!

Excellent vid, like always, thank so much for sharing! ❤😊 I did get the convexe attachement for a guided sharping system (Hapstone r2). It’s more time consuming but following your teaching the end result si great!

This is one of those times that using a TAS is a quick way to take down a blade that is way out. Had a shear that the edge was no wear close to anything that would cut. Multiple angles and just folding like crazy. Was a regular shear not a thinner. I use a very coarse DMT stone to do my initial ride work.

The problem with this shear was it was sharpened on a TAS at too blunt an angle. I think a flathone will make it easier to create the convex, taking your time and remove what you need.

Thanks for the tip! Go down 5 degrees if it’s not cutting. 40 to 45 to 50, Or reverse the order?

Go to a blunter angle…..however you call the degrees. In most cases. There are times I do the opposite depending on the problem.

Did a thinning shear, Japanese koshi? Never cut from new customer said. Did Rideline, regular sharpen, then polishing only on comb blades, no good. Sharpened at correct angle, much better but catching, then used 600 grit sandpaper in the teeth and the little v notches, honed with red stone, perfect!!

Hey Bonnie, Is that a convex or semi convex ? I see youre doing the airplane landing on a cushion plate even though it has a beveled edge? Or are you reshaping the improper beveled edge back to convex?

Reshaping back to a convex
