Dearest Paul, After my father passed away, I went through all of his books that he read. He was s voracious reader. Each book had little pieces of paper such as Post-It notes with lists of characters and their purpose throughout the book. To me, the pieces of handwritten notes are like gold treasure coins! I will always hold onto them tightly! You look great and I have followed you throughout your journey! I love your book reviews and will read each book. Take care Paul. Please let us know how Ted is doing too!❤

Hi Kristin, that is such a lovely and heart-warming message. Your father is onto it. I try to do it in my head, and I can only do 3-4 characters in detail. After that I start to get fuzzy. Good point. I'll have a word with Ted's manager (Caroline) and see if he can get some airtime. Great to hear from you. Paul.

I love that! What a gift from your father! I have story you might be able to relate. My grandmother lived to be 102 and she always left little notes everywhere around her house on whatever she had on her mind. Five years after she passed, the night before my mom was going in to have a cancerous kidney removed, For whatever reason I was looking through some old repair book that was my grandmother's. In it was a note she wrote, "Don't waste your time worrying about the past or the future because you can't change either of them. Just live in the day you have, because that's where it makes the difference. Trust that whatever comes later will be for the best." I gave the note to my mother before she went into the hospital and told I had a message for her from her mother. As my grandmother predicted, everything turned out for the best. The surgery went extremely well and mom recovered. All the best to you! From Vermont USA ❤️

I love this book ❤ As I read it in german I of cource missed the references to the german language 😊 Here we go: *Ersatz* means substitute/replacement (I had no idea that this word exists in english) *Doppelgänger* ‚Doppel‘ means ‚double‘ and ‚Gänger‘ means ‚walker‘ which says that a person walks around that exactly looks like another person 😉 *Zweisamkeit* ‚Zwei‘ means ‚two‘ Zweisamkeit means two people spending time together. Btw ‚Einsamkeit’ means lonliness (eins = one) Thanks so much for the great review. Take care Bettina/Cologne/Germany
@PaulinPerth
@PaulinPerth 5 ай бұрын
Hi Bettina, one thing you might find interesting is that ersatz has a slightly different meaning in English. It translates as a substitute of lower quality. For example, a coffee substitute that tastes like crap would be called an ersatz coffee. In my opinion, Pepsi is an ersatz Coca Cola. IE: it is a substitute of lower quality. Paul.

@@PaulinPerth Thank‘s for pointing this out to me; so I agree that Pepsi is an ersatz Coca Cola😉. A while ago I was in a similar situation to yours. I fell into major depression because of my cancer prognosis and because of my stoma bag. I feel for you 🥰 Believe me, you will get used to the stoma bag. And please, please do videos about the subjects you like and not about the topics the viewers might like. Don‘t care about the viewer states…

So good to see you back to your normal happy self! You are looking and sounding just wonderful! I love to read too, but my eyesight is not great. I fully understand the frustration of meeting too many characters at once! I love all types of books, but historical fiction based on a real event, Amish novels (my grandmother's heritage) are my favorites. Then anything on genetics DNA, midwifery, and some science fiction especially from Stephen King, is a nice change. A wide range, I know. When I'm reading I have a bad habit. If I own the book and find mistakes in spelling or incongruences in the storyline (happens often in a series) I underline it in light pencil with the correction above. Yet I make tons of mistakes in my own writing! Thank you so much for sharing!

@@PaulinPerth To be fair, I "edit" myself crazy even leaving comments here on KZbin. And I still make mistakes. Oh well...Lol The only reason I do it in my own-only books is not in criticism of the author, but because it stops the flow in the read. And that is so annoying. You are right, recovery from such a drastic surgery isn't easy at all. I hope no one ever told you it would be. But it's worth it. After surgery for something as dire as cancer, it's a rollercoaster of ups and downs physically and emotionally. It looks like for you, the worst is well done and over. You're strong, fit and still young, you were so fortunate to have the right treatment available and an amazing support person as caregiver. I'll keep you in my prayers and be thankful you have beaten back that horrific disease. Here's to complete recovery and many many happy and interesting years ahead! Love ❤️ from Vermont USA

True enough. From my point of view, I don't really want to make a video every third day or so just talking about my recovery. Often there is nothing to say, or it is relatively boring - like the fact that I am walking a bit further than the day before. I need there to be some substance in my content. Mind you, the viewer stats of my book reviews are way lower than my cancer updates. Everyone loves a cancer story evidently. And that's fine, but I don't want my life to be only talking about cancer.....
