WOW, It's my hometown, so nice to see my hometown being reported. Manzhouli is not only chinese and russian, there also got ewenki, mongolian, dawuer. My hometown is a very diversified place with great cultures It's just that the region is still underdeveloped. Hopefully, it will become more and more beautiful in the future.

I crossed the border between Zabaikalsk and Manzhouli in 1993. Visited both towns. Back then, Zabaikalsk was essentially the same as it is today. Manzhouli was small neglected big village or small town with dusty roads and crumbling 1-3 storey buildings. Both towns had the same feel.-just food was better on the chinese side(love chinese cuisine) . Now when I see Manzhoulli- its literally shocking!!! Its hard to express in words how it changed over 25 years when I see these roads and high buoildings! The town changed beyond recognition. Insane economic growth! So obvious how russia has lagged behind over those 25 years. I would be very scared if I was a Russian to have such a neighbor

@@jorge227able1 well, if your economy is based on export of natural resources, then you are victim of downturns in the prices of natural resources. That was the case of second half of 1980s- end of 1990s and again second half of 2010s. Nothing surprising about that. Only certain areas of the cities. The Democrats that have run the biggest cities have destroyed them. Graft, greed, shady deals, it is no different in USA than anywhere else. People can be selfish and self serving. The problem is the democrats want to control and have the votes of the residents of those ‘run down’ areas in the cities and have convinced the residents to sit in their hands and wait for the government to ‘save’ them from themselves. It is time the residents of certain neighborhoods get off their @sses and fix their areas. They need to forget waiting for handouts from the federal and state governments and take care of the neighborhoods even if it means working one house and one block at a time. It is sad how many in those areas blame ‘wypipo’ when in reality it’s their own local leaders who sold them out for personal profit and power.

Very interesting and accurate video. The huge difference between the countries is that Chinese are humble people who are generally glad of any work and will do anything for very low wages and often sleep on the factory floor or above in dormitories. Women cook workers meals of cheap noodles and fish etc in open sided sheds, on camping stove type things on the floor and toilets are literally open sewers and no paper provided. Tomatoes etc are grown in small fenced off gardens in the factory grounds. In contrast the Russians are proud people -like Europeans and don't like working for a pittance and sleeping and eating 'rough' at the factories and so cannot compete on manufacturing prices, -just as the West can't either. No wonder the West is getting worried. Perhaps we need to rethink our 'luxury' lifestyle!

Very interesting video sad to see all of the smaller parts of Russia not only by the chinese border but the tuva people by the Mongolian border are also very poor and alot of abandon buildings same in kalymica. China seems to be growing and developing rapidly but you have to hand it to their people they work hard they get things done. By the time they build a new subway here in Toronto china can build 3 cities. Very hardworking people. I would love to visit both countries though.

It speaks volumes how far apart both countries still are (politically) considering that a simple border crossing takes 1h ... Despite this report is a bit "dated" I don´t think much has changed since. Maybe trade has intensified to the benefit of both sides in general but with little effect to the border towns (in particular on the Russian side).

The USA is going the same way, as we put more into deigning new things for war instead of new things for the people. Also medicine costs too much in the USA, and is basically supported by keeping people sick instead of finding cures for things.

The only reason why that should happen is if you are strong allies with that nation. Otherwise is it stupid to do that, especially if that nation has the capability of harming another nation for a ridiculous reason. I can guarantee if my government was willing to sell a B-2 China, let alone any country, would much rather have that over anything Russia can offer.

The story of contrasts ....... people in Russia longing for mingling with people , socializing with them , having infrastructure that can accomodate more social mixing and shared environment just opposite to China or India ..... where people are just fed up with each other especially dealing day and night with crowds /non ending traffic etc. and longing for more private and secluded housing and infrastructure that provide security but with very less people ! Extreme of both kinds with almost no people or too much people ! That's why Australia/New Zealand always wins on these measures with just some hot/cold months and no border whatsoever to deal with !

Most of Canada's economy is supplying raw goods and resources to the United States and Canada does quite well, with one of the highest standards of living in the world. Russia should look to emulate Canada with strong human rights, property rights, respect for contracts and good rule of law instead of making mischief like in Crimea. @@glebsokolov9959 A person living in Russia himself can best describe the present regime of President Putin. I won't comment on his domestic policies. However what I do know living outside that the western world along side United States aren't happy with him because of his standing on international issues that directly conflicts with them. Like on Syria, Ukraine and recently on Venezuela. As a result western world imposed sanctions on Russia and surviving under such circumstances to run a country is a real challenge you would agree. Consequently, Russian well compelled to explore new markets for their products particularly her natural gas and other petroleum products. I would say that Russia was lucky that it neighbours China who has a deep pocket to spend and also appetite for energy resources as they are expanding phenomenally, otherwise things would have been far more critical for Russia. We have the example of Iran who is write now struggling with the same issue. I have no idea how does the sanctions affect ordinary Russian citizens in their normal lives.
@glebsokolov9959
@glebsokolov9959 5 жыл бұрын
Agha Shahid Khan The thing is, no one asked Putin to invade Crimea illegally. He saw that Ukraine was looking towards the west and decided to “punish” it. What did those sanctions cause? Our currency value was slashed by half, that’s how our wonderful president took care of the situation, LOL! Just imagine having 30,000 dollars in rubles worth in the bank account and in one day losing half of it. It not hard to take care of the situation like this if your people take all the hit. We gave Venezuela an unimaginable amount of money, 17 billion dollars, we both know it will never return, but if we didn’t it would be worth a 4 year budget for a major 1+ million population city in Russia. I means with all money we gave to Venezuela we could essentially reconstruct the whole city of Omsk, for example. Putin’s regime is also extremely corrupt, all his close friends from the past somehow became millionaires and billionaires, the Russian government currently ignores all investigations by Navalny (he is the main opposition and regularly publishes corruption cases of Russian officials and billionaires), etc. There was even a case where our Prime minister was found to have a huge mansion he could never afford and also found to have suspicious connections with one of Russia’s oligarchs. What did Putin do after people started protesting and demanding for prime minister to step down? Nothing, not even an investigation.

@@AghaShahidKhan This "gleb sokolov" - is another liberal kid, maybe from ucraine, i feel sorry for him and his words. This creature did not even bother to write his name in Russian, which already says a lot. Putin is a good man and a skilled politician, but he is not God and he makes mistakes and does not do much of what should be done. For example, I do not agree with his choice of government, which now sits a whole horde of liberals, Russia acting to the detriment and do not bring any good. Or I condemn the excessive freedom, even permissiveness that prevails in our country, and the complete absence of any control, it allows the propagandic mass media of the West to work in full force, telling us about "how bad everything is", about a "bad Putin", "everything is stolen", (corruption) etc. setting Russian people against the Russian state, drawing to them a exellent image of "civilized" countries - America, England, Germany in which normal people live, and we, Russians - nasty inhumans who have to pay them and repent for "atrocities of bloody Mordor" (Russian Empire and USSR) which we brought to the "blessed West". Germany, Russia, and China are similar in that they are agricultural people. Which means they are conservative and shy. Russia Empire in the past forced China to cede large size of land, that is the reason they fear China will attack. But in reality both countries need each other to fend against the US, despite the cultural differences. Also, nuclear powers do not go to war directly, so far that has been the case.
