The only risk to focusing on realism with Virtua Fighter is that realism seems boring in comparison to the more fantastical stuff in other fighting games. Part of what keeps SF and MK relevant in the causal eyes are the over top visuals with supers,X-rays,fatalities etc which is why Harada emphasized on that for T7 and T8. The hyper realistic blocking and stuff looks great, especially to fighting game buffs like us but to the casual eye, what incentive are they gonna have to have play virtua fighter when they could just be a “cool kid” and buy UFC 4 or w/e for the realistic fighting.

If Sega plays it smart and follow the same philosophy as Namco has done with adding guest characters and so on, and keeping the game updated for years to come, i think VF6 might have a chance to compete directly against T8. Would be absolutely awesome to see characters like Ryo Hazuki and Lan Di from Shenmue in VF, and maybe adding guest characters from SF and other franchises. One thing Sega will beat Tekken in will be in graphics, and the gameplay is not bad in VF. It has the same dna as Tekken but more grounded, it's the same developers who worked on VF who helped create Tekken in it's early days

I completely agree with this. I'm curious about how much VF will try to cater to casuals with things like supers/rage arts, ez mode/simple style etc. VF has always lacked FLASH and IMPACT compared to Tekken imo. The more Tekken improved on these things, the better the games have done as well.

Clive having that sort of range and tracking combined with neutral skips into un-dickjab-able stance mix (+6 with i15 mids) is...a choice. I'm not sure how good Clive is at top level, but I feel like he's the type of character that is an absolute menace for new players trying to learn good fundamentals.

what moves are you referring to?? His only non official tracking move that has good tracking his his f1+2. Also, what moves are you talking about that are un-dickjable from phoenix shift (PS)? As far as I know his b2,44, and df1,2 ON BLOCK into PS to his 4 is uninterruptible but the rest you can just powercrush. Plus 4,4 and df1,2 end in a duckable high and so is b2. Not sure why you are making it an issue? And PS 4 is -1 on hit so he still loses his turn.

I know it doesn't mean much, but looking at the peaks for Steam player count peaks for different character releases is kind of interesting to me. Eddy and Clive had the same size spike, Lidia had the next biggest spike and Heihachi had the biggest spike. There's lots of other factors that go into that like natural player falloff over time but I thought it was kind of interesting. Totally unrelated, in SF6 when Akuma released, the steam player count spiked to the same level as release which is nuts. I wonder what Akuma could do for Tekken 8 😉

I think it is way too early for players to be calling Clive broken. He clearly has faults. Yes, he has amazing spacing tools, but he has nothing really fast so once an opponent is in his face, it is difficult to deal with.

The only cool thing is all the power he has of different elements. But those elements are too much in Tekken visuals (the visuals are already crazy in tk8 and Clive dials it UpTo 11). So ya no he ain't dope imo .. he feels like a sword guy with cool color effects like mk1 with all the blood effects. His power elements are what makes him interesting to me in a rpg environment like Dante, kratos or Leon with different weapon and skills. But if you enjoy this character then more power to you 👍

@ i watchd your clip and i left a like on it for real but still u guys r not putting the effort on those kinds of video’s to be heard, more ppl and more big names should point out those things to make an impact. The clips of knee u showed I experienced live and i jumped of hype back then when i saw it and now after 1 year of tournaments in T8 i have not even seen half of that tekken, tournaments now r boring all the characters play the exact same way, its heavy 50/50 and 1 combo then smash then u r dead, this is not a good game design and season 2 to have some major drastic changes with the removal of chip dmg.
