Thinking the same thing, not to mention with where the ice box is, there is going to be all kinds of spilled ice, spilled water, condensation from the box, all trapped on top of the weight plate. I hope he protects it somewhat at least lol.

nutserts will not hold that weight for long or at all for a tie down point. the first time the car comes down hard the car will run over the plate and tanks. drill through holes in the frame with pipe welded in the frame so the bolts do not collapse the frame rail.

For sure, I barely trust them to hold fuel line brackets and body panels. A flying weight plate could seriously mess up someone's day.

Also add tank straps as those tiny aluminum tabs are not designed to hold the weight of a full cell/ water tank.

Well, they are on the inside and kinda wedged in there. The bolts would have to sheer off before the plate would completely drop out. Plus they're putting tabs off the front as well, And it holds Wyatt! Haha 😄

Awesome Fuel Tech set up. Now you just need to upgrade the roll cage!! You guys are sure putting a lot of faith in those nutserts. I think I would have drilled thru the entire frame rails and added some sleeves. Then it can bolt all the way thru the frame rails. No chance of a hard hit pulling nutserts out of the frame rails.

If you are spending your own dollar Fuel Tech is the way to go. Holly stuff is good, I don't think you would find something like a dominator limiting but but there is a real reason the pros use fuel tech, it's not just sponsorship.

Not sure if I would do nut surts. With all that weight, if you still wheelie I’d hate for it to fall off or pull them out. Would do through bolts with washers. Looking good tho Kyle 🤙🏼

Just my opinion lads but wouldn’t trust those nutserts especially as the fuel tank is sitting on the plate too. Maybe run a nut and bolt through the chassis each side to the brackets on the plate as a fail safe just in case.

you need a bar / cage to protect the tanks anyway. just mount the bumper to that. and those bolts that hold the weight plate should go through the frame and get a counter nut or smth. so the vibrations wont rattle them lose. will be quiet the show if you'd run over your own weight plate and fuelcell.

If they beef up the tabs what they have is fine. Running prevailing torque nuts and loctite those tanks are not coming loose.

You'll need something to protect the fuel cell from getting damaged in a front end collision. Most tracks won't let you race without some kind of cage around the cell because it's up front

Sump of the tank is in the rear, even if the car was 90degree straight up the fuel would still be in the rear bottom corner.

I can see the need for a nut welded to the frame horns and the bolts ran through,after reading all the comments.I wondered how well the 'serts would hold in a minor collision,but the wheelie drop really got me.The nut-serts are brass and Will shear off.EEK.Heck guys,give a break.They're setting it up,and doing Awesome !

I believe the word you are looking for on those bars is strut bar or radius rod (depending on the manufacturer). Classic Falcons and mustangs have them.

You should slot the bolt holes on the mounting tabs for the weight plate so that if you do ever wheelie real hard and land on the plate, it can slide upward on it's mounting tabs instead of bending the frame

On your weight plate. I would run your mounting strap up and over the top of the frame horn instead of just the 2 bolts and your front gusset. This would rely on the strap for support instead of the bolt shear strength. My 2 cents. Get that record boys👍

Before Honda 4 cylinders i tried chevy 153 and 181 Pontiac tempest 189 pinto 2000. Its dam hard to keep up with v8s but we did. We used turbo and nitrous circa 1981.

Those bars in the front are called strut tension rods. They perform the exact same function as a traction bar on a Civic.

There's bolt holes on either side of the hood latch. Make a A frame mount for the bumper. So its small, easy and leaves room on either side.

Nut serts.. Cut the frame with a hole saw and weld in some small tube and use a through bolt for that weight plate, water tank and fuel tank.

Moving on pretty quick, may want to add 2 more tabs on the outside of the frame rails for 8 total since the rail metal is so thin or maybe weld a plate to the rail for the threadserts to have more substance to hold to. That plate weight multiplies when the nose slams down lol, cant wait to see the MR2 breaking that record💪🏻💪🏻

You can plug the Fuel Tech into a laptop anytime, with or without the harness plugged in and it will power up and you can go through the functions, settings and load tunes right on it.

Hey - you might want to add more bolts and bigger bolts on the weight plate. When she slams down from a wheelie, you can shear those small bolts. Remember this is a weight plate not a bracket!!

Make sure you guys put a tac weld on the nut serts that way they don't spin on you guys when you take the plate on and off.I believe those are tension struts your talking about on the front.
