My a1c was 5.8 for the last year. My BMI is 21, very athletic and getting lots of exercise. So, I don't match the standard pre diabetic. I went 10% carbs 7 weeks ago. I got a Stelos CGM a week ago. My low reading during sleep is 85. Post meal is about 115. I'm sticking with 10% carbs. Thanks for your encouragement

Hi. From time-to-time there situations when I know that I am going to consume something sugary. Is there anything that I can do preemptively like consume a scoop of psyllium husk fiber or ACV to blunt the effects? It nearly impossible for me to avoid any sugar. Thank you.

Some people use Ceylon cinnamon capsules. I'm trying it now and it seems to help.

Great question! Walking before or after sugar consumption is a great option to help reduce the blood glucose spike. ACV also helps, along with not having the sugar in isolation. For example, have it after you eat some protein and fat vs just as a stand-alone snack.

I dont eat added sugar, my glucose is in the ideal range, my fasting insulin is low. But my A1c keeps teetering on the cusp of prediabetes. Could this be stress? How concerned should I be?

I'm not sure what "low" means for your fasting insulin. Ideal is less than 6. Sometimes an A1c may teeter on borderline due to stress or sleep deprivation so if those are issues for you I'd focus on addressing them.

@@drmorgannolte 3.6 fasting insulin. I do struggle with sleeping through the night and stress. So that must be where I need to do the work. I also don't eat from breakfast to dinner for the most part. Due to my work schedule. Can that extended time without food contribute?

You can have a high fasting sugar but still have normal AC1 or visa versa

I do see discrepancies in fasting blood sugar and A1c levels. Like someone has an A1c in the healthy range, but fasting glucose in the prediabetic range. I give A1c more weight because it's a 3-month marker of your glucose levels, but technically you could be considered prediabetic or diabetic if just one of those markers (A1c or glucose) is in the range.

rofl.. There are plenty of ways to eat foods that are satiating. The easiest way to test this/check this for YOU as an individual is to get a CGM. They are pretty affordable and easy to use. You can make a journal of those foods that work best for you. KETO alternative choices work nicely for this.

I used to have a huge sweet tooth. Loved carbs. But, a1c went to.5.8. After 7 weeks of 10% carbs, my desire for sweet tastes is almost entirely gone. Cream in coffee tastes great, tiny glucose move.
