What you have to remember is the fact that there is something known as 'perfect social distancing' and something else known as 'imperfect social distancing.' With the former everyone follows the rules to the letter reguarding social distancing and abides by the two-metre and one-metre rule. With imperfect social distancing there may be situations where someone unintentionally closes the gap between oneself and their neighbour to a distance of less than two or one metres. This was particularly the case during the hokey-cokey when one was required to put ones left leg in and in doing so, one's left leg would by chance close to less than one metre of one's neighbours left leg, which is all very fine and understandable. As far as vomit on the walls it was more a case of the wall closing within less than one-metre of the person vomiting as opposed to a person vomiting closing to within one metre of the walls.

I no longer live in the UK, but like the world over, was subject to many restrictions. In general, I was lucky, though. The only thing I really regret was not being able to be present at the birth of my first child. I feel like Covid robbed me of that, but I fully understand why the restrictions were in place, and can't complain in that respect. It really angers me that I made this (involuntary) sacrifice, whilst the likes of Johnson put two fingers up to the rules he created. I can only imagine how furious people are with much sadder stories than my - the people who missed funerals and couldn't be there with dying loved ones. Then there are those who didn't make it, who were forced to die alone. My "sacrifice" pails in comparison. And what compounds the issue is his steadfast refusal to take any real responsibility. He loves to say he does with words, but his actions make it clear he really doesn't. All he cares about is himself. Such a selfish, disgraceful individual, wholly unsuited for any public position, let alone that of Prime Minister!

There is somewhat of a grey area. As politicians they had to continue working during the pandemic, but their place of work was essentially also a place of residence. Was it really necessary for all the people in #10 to be there. As a community NHS practitioner, we worked from home for much of the time only carrying out home visits when there was an emergency i.e. somebody's life was at risk. On these occasions we had specific instructions on what (useless as it turns out) PPE we had to wear, when we had to don the PPE and how to dispose of it. When we then went home, we had to shower before we interacted with loved ones. In certain circumstances we were not allowed to go home until we had been tested and given the all clear. So again, given that #10 appears to be packed to the rafters with staff, why were most of them not working from home?

We had to choose who could visit. I know this is only one of many of such stories but given that the committe has gone onto the territory of 'were the events necessary', I think that the parties should be put into context. Given the opportunity my family would have said that seeing their mother and wife was necessary.

I remember when Greg Dyke resigned as BBC Chair. He took the wrap for a failure at the organisation because he was head of the organisation. As he said at the time, 'I can't know everything that happens in the BBC, but I am responsible for it' so that's that. I see no difference here. Blaming junior staff, and ignoring the hullaballoo in the garden where his kid's swing gets trashed is not an excuse.

Just take a minute to process this. He said " I beleived it was essential for work purposes for the reasons I just mentioned ". So to keep morale up and motivated his staff, it was ESSENTIAL to have the gathering. Meanwhile , funerals were not. People struggling with mental health because they were entirely alone could not meet friends because that was not " essential ". Gyms for staying fit and keeping busy during a time people were sitting in drinking were also not " essential ". Literally everyone else had no excuse to be gathered together. Infact police were enforcing it with fines. Yet HIS work gathering was essential. To say thanks when they fked everything up anyway.

He fell for the oldest trick in the book, they got him focusing on whether or not guidance was properly followed rather than whether he lied about it in parliament, he's admitted now that *usually* it would be followed, but in this case because it was impromptu it wasn't, which means he's admitted he knew guidance wasn't properly followed when he claimed it was in parliament. It's already open and shut but it's fun to see them make their case even more solid. I'm still not holding my breath though, the amount of corruption in government could mean he still only gets a slap on the wrist despite everything. (Edit: He's also admitted there were parties, but he didn't attend them (for long), he's trying to downplay his involvement but that wasn't the question, it was that he knew they were happening, which he claimed he didn't)

It’s absolutely sickening especially when families couldn’t visit elderly relatives in hospitals or care homes
@jak1590 Жыл бұрын
Wow, No.10 couldn’t socially distance like everyone else managed, I really just heard Johnson say that. Perhaps then when he told everyone what to do he should have said this of course does not apply to No.10 who will party on dude. He wants us to believe that No. 10 was the only place working very very hard during the pandemic and needed special treatment.

In France, the people are rioting because Macron and his cronies are trying to put the retirement age up to 64. Here in the U.K. the Tories imposed a failed austerity policy on us in 2008 and it's still in place. They raised the retirement age from 60 for women and 65 for men to a possible 68. Then they imposed the lockdown policy on us whilst failing to observe the very rules they made and imposed on the nation. Then, to rub salt into our wounds, Capt BoJo commits perjury in an attempt to get himself off the hook [for breaking the Covid rules]. The man is a disgrace and we, the public are fools for putting up with this Muppet.
