This scene is so heartbreaking, but the flashes of the old Junior we get when he’s in the asylum are just so good. That “we taught the world how to eat” line is so good, shows exactly who Junior is he’s just ridiculously proud of where he came from lol

Junior in the asylum was such a great part of the show. You initially see him clinging to his identity as a boss, a charmer, and a crook. As time passes and he gets resigned to his lot, you also see his mind degrade more and more until he’s just a shell. There’s so much nuance in Dominic Chianese’s performance, too!

It's then revealed that richie too is a patient there who lost his mind and does the same thing every time he hallucinates seeing Davey. loved seeing uncle Junior in the asylum. It was almost like an experiment. There are people who will always have followers I guess. Even when he was starting to get senile, he was still charismatic, still told jokes, still tried to make a profit one way or other, still gave people orders and they followed.

@@sjacrane The Chinese guy had looked up to Junior as a mentor and was already in there for anger related issues. Once Junior started going really senile, he got angry. Nothing happened to him, since Junior was already a pissing wreck and the New Jersey crew was already on its last legs.

I love that last scene where Junior is given one last taste of being a real gangster. What a gift given to him by his care taker. Says so much about these two characters in such a short time. Nearly moved me to tears. The quality in writing and performance stayed true to the very end.

I didn’t understand why that guy was such a dick to Corrado. Tbh, I think that guy would’ve beat the shit out of Corrado. Instead of having Jr. do it himself, they should’ve had him give a look to the Asian kid, prompting him to do it. That would’ve made more sense.
