My 10 yrs old have this issue. Missing k9 and no wisdom teeth. Orthodontic’s suggest if in the future if he lose it implant will be an option.

I have 1 peg lateral and 3 missing adult teeth from this disorder. I am just now (at 50 years old) able to take care of the issues that I’ve had since birth. I began with braces 3 years ago to make room and align my teeth. Six months ago, I had surgery to remove 3 baby teeth and one healthy adult tooth along with bone grafts in two sections of my upper jaw. This was very painful, but I am healing well. The jaw looks good and I will get 3 implants in just about a month. Yes, it’s costly and insurance literally paid $200 out of my initial $5K surgery. I expect they will fight me every step of the way on the implant surgery which will be close to $10K more. Then 4-5 months later I will get fitted for my crowns and bridge that will then connect to the implant posts. It’s a process and super costly. I only wish I’d done this sooner in life! Me too! I just had a hole where my adult canine was sposed to be. I got braces, amd they just pulled all the back.teeth on that side forward to close the gap.

Your disorder is called hyperdontia instead of hypodontia. I found out a lot about teeth when I was researching my own treatments for hypodontia (3 missing adult teeth from birth). It’s so good to be informed when visiting with dentists and doctors. It also helps with asking questions when information is unclear or possibly misleading. Keep on researching and looking at lots of different sources. Wishing you the best❤️

My daughter is missing her lateral incisors, no one in my family is missing the lateral incisors so I was surprised. I have 5 siblings and none of us even needed braces of any kind. I'm trying to learn about it for her sake. She's just starting to notice that she has big gaps between her teeth 😞

i have both my lateral incisors missing and my dentist wants to close the spaces up but my mouth is already small as it is and on my lower teeth i have crowding a bit which will mean they will probably want to to take one or more of my teeth out and i dont want that so i was looking for options and i saw that there is maryland bridge thing what do you think about these do you think it will be a good option? are they any good please give me advice

I just figured out that I have a mandibular central incisor missing two hours ago, it’s just incredible that I’ve never found out l have a missing tooth since the function of my bite and my appearance are all good. My lower teeth are also bilaterally symmetrical. So in my case, is it necessary to get my teeth adjusted?

Yep… I was one of the few unfortunate souls to be born with this. Born with 10 missing adult teeth and a brother who was born with a cleft palate and 12 missing teeth. Horrible state of affairs. Sitting on an NHS waiting list to receive treatment whilst hanging on to 5 of my original baby teeth! Couldn’t write it!

Have you been referred to Barts Hospital? As it’s a congenital condition, you should be eligible for more specialised treatment with the NHS. I have 11 missing teeth and have some implants and crowns. Hope you and your brother can get some treatment soon!

@@LunaLa1981 I was referred to Lauriston Building in Edinburgh. They have placed me on an NHS waiting list to receive treatment. Could be waiting up to three years, however!
