For those that get stuck at 37:28 - Make sure your normal map node plugs into the right 'normal' in the principalBSDF node. There is more than one 'normal' and I had it plugged into the one under 'coat' which was wrong. Click and drag the end of the noodle and you can snap it to the right one.

(I'm on blender 4.1 so I'm not sure if this will work for you) For anyone having issues with beveling the 7th block, the corner one try this: While in edit mode select the block After you have already made it into the corner shape using the slice and extrude tools. When you have it selected press "A" so you have selected the entire object then press "delete" on your keyboard and use the limited dissolve function to make it so there are less lines on the object so when you add the modifier it doesn't look like crap.

Great video, but I think you're missing one corner. There should be one corner inwards like yours and one outwards, I think, no? I'm sorry, it's hard to explain textually... Like, one with 3 vertices up and 1 down, which you did, and one with 1 vertice up and 3 down.

I came back here to this video to try to remember how to get gltf files to export with their materials intact. Because I'm having the hardest time. I made the basketball from the tutorial by 3Dnot2D and every time I try to export it and put it in Godot, it's just white with the black lines on it. No orange bump texture. What am I doing wrong that I didn't do in this video? Because this worked for me with no problem when I did it with the world tiles. I'm checking "Automatically pack resources" and save the file but it's not working.

Great series so far, although I'm a bit sad that it isn't finished yet. In the future if you do this again, with the modeling, you shouldn't choose something like this bumpy top, but instead do a full texture. Trying to adapt what you did to a more normal ground tile, and I get parts of the edge pieces you created that the texture looks like shit. When you go into uv mapping you can see instead of it using a large space for the face it's using a single line, so the entire face looks like a bunch of lines, it isn't immediately obvious how to fix it, because in the uv map it seems like a single line, and its hard to get it to grab only one side, or at least it was for me, turns out you just grab a line and pull and it stretches, it isn't pretty, but it isn't as glaring so you can move on until you can address it fully if you bother with polish. Other wise good stuff, looking forward to the rest.

to bevel better, hit tab, then a, then you can do ctrl + b, which will enter bevel mode, then use scroll wheel up or down to add more layers, use your mouse to adjust the distance between the layers.

I really wish you had included the files like you said you would. I don't want to have to deal with the issues of learning a complicated program so early into learning a different complicated program. I keep having this issue where adding a bevel property doesn't work. I have to delete the block and start over every time. I promise I'm doing everything according to the video. Not sure if it's a bug or some quirk or something a new user wouldn't know about.

My last two "walled" blocks have problems. The straight wall block will not accept a bevel (nothing changes), and the corner walled block bevels the top of the walls as three separate faces (not the same as yours). Using v4.1. Followed same steps as all blocks.

As other comments have mentioned, I'm also running into a lot of problems with the bevel tool, especially at the 7th block. Watching closely I've done the same steps yet when I go to bevel, because of the loop cuts breaking the block into segments, the bevel creates ugly creases in the middle of the walls. I also ran into issues where the bevel modifier wouldn't work at all but I'm chalking that up to user error because it would often start working after I deleted the object and retraced the video more carefully. (I also used Blender 3.6 so I don't think it's a matter of different version. Maybe there's a setting or something I missed?) If anyone reading this has the same issues I do, really check your colonlys, apply material first, etc. and on the 7th block if you are having issues with the bevel modifier: apply the bevel manually by selecting faces at a time and readjust the inner wall corner's vertices. Hope maybe I can help some of the other people also having issues with this comment lol

I ran into the same issue. Remade the block - and this time instead of extruding each face on its own, I did all three at once using shift click.

Same. I did 100% exactly what he did except in Blender 4.0 and it didn't work. I'm not sure what the difference is. Edit: So I got it working. He implied in the tutorial that I could use a different material from the website, so I chose a different one. I instead chose the exact one he used, under the Principled BSDF node I changed the Emission color to black, and I connected the Normal Map node from it's "normal" noodle connecting to the top of the Principled BSDF's TOP, not the bottom, "normal" connector just under "alpha".
