nice video. I also had a problem with bosch gdx 18v-200c wherein the double ended impact bits won't lock. the reason is the collet depth of the 200c is shallower than other gdx or gdr. hope you can also make a video on that. thanks.

@@Gidjoiner Carpentry is a retirement hobby more than anything and as I had some Bosch gear already I bought the Impact driver. Used it for landscaping (retaining walls, fencing), a new deck, replacing 24 windows and doors and an addition to the house. Certainly not what I expected from a Pro series tool. The job site guys here in NZ use Makita and Milwaukee a lot. I now have Worx tools and they are proving very good value for money with a lot of bare tool options. Have just picked up their weedeater bare tool for 50 quid (in your currency). Cheers. love your practical approach to your work.

Useful vid. I had no idea the GDX bit holder had such issues. So given your workaround, do you still like it? Or do you think it's a nice concept that fails in execution? I had Bosch and Wiha bit holders in my Bosch combi drill and the Bosch wobbles more, but after 9 months the whole chuck wobbles. It came with the impact control bit set.

Hi Gid, I got a medium length makita bit holder . Stumbled upon it in a speedy hire shop . Lovely holder . Unsure if they have speedy hire shops up by you I’ll check my bit holders , I’m sure my new one from Howdens will fit . Curious though
@Gidjoiner5 жыл бұрын
Thanks, yeah Will mentioned an Irwin bit from Howdens, I've inc a link to it in the description of this vid, 👍 I've not a lot of experience with impacts but I'd have thought that Bosch would make their drill to fit most bit holders esp as i showed in the vid it's only a case of a couple of mm's 🤔
@carterscustomrods3 жыл бұрын
I assume you realize by now it is the length of your bit extenders? The shank isn't long enough to go in, and the flared out ring of the bit keeps it from going in far enough.

Hi, i bought it because i have the jigsaw, angle grinder, planer & drill, with a few batteries, not sure what i was expecting, i knew it wasn't the best but beyond putting screws in it's a bit rubbish, i bought thinking it would be good for coach screws etc. but nooo, it gets them in a bit then just makes noise, the 18v drill/driver has a lot more torque,

@@Gidjoiner Good man, thanks. I have bought into the Makita 18v and 36v platforms in a big way and am very happy with Makita cordless tools. I was given a Bosch 18v hammer/drill/driver with three 5ah batteries by the company I work for and was thinking of getting the impact driver as a bare tool. I could fit both of them into the L-boxx with the charger and batteries. I have an older 18v Dewalt impact driver which is great but it doesn't have adjustable torque. Maybe I should go for the Makita 18v impact, 🤔
@Gidjoiner4 жыл бұрын
@@TheToolnut yeah i would, Makita are my no1 tool of choice normally 👍i bought the 18v Bosch drill because of the high torque rating, I'd killed a few Dewalts driving in coach screws, the Bosch is doing well, not a whiff of smoke 😂 & I'm happy with the others - jigsaw planer n grinder but the impact driver was a little disappointing, I've accepted it for what it is now n if one day i need a stronger machine I'll shop around but will have to buy batteries n charger so that won't be soon.

Given the amount of subscribers you have Bosch should be in touch to sort it out. I've got far less subscribers than you on another platform, Instagram and I have power tools sent to me free of charge by certain companies. I will say however Bosch are very disinterested when it comes to problems or suggestions. I've contacted them countless times about a 110v charger for their 18v batteries and they aren't bothered despite trades on site wanting them.
@Gidjoiner5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Sam I think when Bosch made this they were fully aware that a 'standard' shanked bit wouldn't fit that's why their Bosch bit is longer, it only needs a couple of mm's so i think when they made this decision it was an arrogant finger up to the rest of the brands, buy a Bosch GDX n you have to buy a bit with a long shank preferably theirs, 😒

I'm struggling to understand this - I'm from the UK - this is an IMPACT WRENCH isn't it? An Impact driver is for screws and fixings not nuts and bolts. Screw adaptors (even impact rated ones) will be designed NOT to fit as the higher torque on the Impact Wrench will destroy it. Good idea - but you'll have to be very careful not to destroy the adaptor and at £10 a time you might as well buy a new bare tool that's right for the job

@@Gidjoiner well that's a great idea - contact Bosch UK they will tell you what bits adaptors fit - they are always helpful. Not entirely surprised other branded adaptors won't fit my impact rated Bosch adaptor holder does look like it has a longer hex shaft at the base - this is probably so it fits in this tool. @@Gidjoiner This is only an issue on Bosch's GDX models that combine the 1/2" socket and hex bit holder/front end. Their GDR impacts have the standard fitting and this isn't an issue. I think it's due to the needed depth of the 1/2" to grab a socket.
