For those Rockers who like to play their music LOUD at home this would make an incredible home system if your wife doesn't mind the looks:) Put on some Hendrix crank it up, you'll swear you are third row at the Woodstock festival! Very few Audiophile/traditional Hi-fi's have these crystal clear dynamics and super low end at volume. I spent over $5,000 to get similar performance for the home from a pair of floor standing speakers with a subwoofer.

After spending even more $$$ since this video was made a year ago, this is still my hands down highest performing portable PA live rig! Until QSC comes out with their own column array system that might never happen, this is the end of the road!

Viewer comment: After doing gigs with 2 K12.2s and the sub I realized I was totally wasting the fabulous low end on the K12.2s, so I sold them and bought a pair of K8.2s. The 8.2s seemed like they were made to go with the sub, better highs and mids than the 12.2s and the lesser quality lows were out when crossed over. The 8.2s have a wider dispersion than the K12.2s which have a longer throw, so they cover more of the room with less volume.

Cool video. Just for clarification, QSC 8.2's 2000 watt rating is peak, while Bose, unless they changed their methods, list their ratings as continuous.

QSC K8.2 is 27 lbs. The Sub2 had no trouble holding it. Bose has a warning label on the Sub2 saying not to use a speaker heavier than 15 lbs. Bose S1 Pro just happens to be 15 lbs. Maybe ?? Bose is trying to make MORE $$$$!

QSC K8.2/Sub1 combination is more powerful with much better bass than the Bose Pro8, EV30m, or JBL EonOneMK2. To get this level of power/bass kick you will need to go with EV50, Bose Pro16, RCF J8 or JBL PRX One.

Sorry to say just after making this video I read K8.2 went up $50 to $750. I said the dispersion of the K8.2 was 90 degrees. I checked the specs, it is actually better at 105 degrees. It's the K10.2 which has the the 90 degree throw. Also didn't mention the K8.2 is a popular speaker for acoustic guitarists who are always chasing that perfect tone.

Does k8.2 sound better than pro 32 tower
@WWeiss-nv5vz9 ай бұрын
Short answer, No! Pro 32 system is full range with an amazing 180 degree room filling sound. K8.2 is an 8 inch speaker that lacks bass. Adding a subwoofer is required for anything more than acoustic guitar/vocals. The Pro32 and all Bose for that matter have that smooth Bose midrange but the high end is rolled off and a little muddy. Even with EQ the Bose cannot produce highs as clean as QSC, RCF, or JBL. QSC is the opposite, and famous for a super crystal clear high end. My solution: I Aux out the K8.2 from the Pro32, adding the missing high end and producing a quasi stereo field, even though both playing in mono. Best of both worlds!

I guess that’s a great system even with sub1 will make a lot of good noise
@WWeiss-nv5vz3 жыл бұрын
Haven't tested it with the Sub1 yet. That will be a future test, lighter/more portable for sure. With electronic drums or in your case maybe synths. the Sub2 going down to 37Hz makes a noticeable difference.

RCF TT515 over Sub2 would be another great choice but much more $$$! kzbin.info/www/bejne/l5nPh6yjobyMapI

K8.2 has jumped up in price again. Now $820! You guys should have bought it when I made this video:(

I am a solo acoustic guy but I’m a pretty percussive player and like that low end. Do you think 2- K8 or should I go with the 10’s?

Hi Bill.. I have an acoustic duo and sometimes 3 piece playing 2 acoustic guitars, 2 vox and kick drum with Looper. We use 2x RCF 712 mk4 tops, and are thinking of adding a Bose sub 2 to add more volume, and bass etc... Can we do this easy enough with the Sub2, and should it make a big difference? Cheers
@WWeiss-nv5vz Жыл бұрын
Adding a sub will not add much volume. RCF 12 inch tops are excellent but have little bass. Adding a Sub2 will transform your system, especially the kick drum! Night and day difference!

@@WWeiss-nv5vz oh wow.... Thanks that was exactly what I was hoping to hear. I needed some confidence going ahead because from the price point it's pretty expensive! Cheers 👍

Actually for acoustic music w/percussion that you are describing you might want to save some money, look at the Bose Sub1 or EV ELX12-SP both kick hard! EV is $100 cheaper with more output and an excellent App. Of course Sub2 is next level but extra weight, size, $$$ is the downside.@@gerardvinar

@@WWeiss-nv5vz Hi Bill..... We have a problem in the fact that our car is nearly full to the brim with gear. I was under the expectation that the Bose sub 2 is small in weight and size, and we could probably fit it in. But the Ev from what I see is a bigger sub in both factors. Would that be right?
@WWeiss-nv5vz Жыл бұрын
Sub2 is tall and 52 pounds. EV traditional shape 42 pounds. Bose Sub1 36 pounds, carries like a big suitcase. Also be aware the Bose subs have to laid on their sides to mount a top. Some people don't like that look.kzbin.info/www/bejne/rorCk6podsmhbMU

You would need a 12" cardioid QSC K2.12 subs for the k8.2s imo. But it sounds nice, thanks for sharing.

Agree QSC makes great subs. I have their older K Sub. It makes an incredible kick drum sound!

The single QSC 12 inch sub sounds way better than the cardioid dual 12.

@@WWeiss-nv5vz I have the QSC K sub as well. How would you say the Bose Sub2 compares? Would it be worth selling my Ksub to get the Sub2 in your opinion?
@WWeiss-nv5vz3 жыл бұрын
@@ToneTac No, don't sell it! I love the K Sub for my purpose which is electronic kick drum amplification. Some people say the K Sub is a one note sub. If true I like that one note! Bose Sub2 goes much lower to 37Hz and is a more musical sub. They are about equal in power/slam. Of course the Sub2 is a feather weight in comparison!
