You can pick up the master key from Domhnall of Zena after he moves to Firelink, though. So either way, you can still get it even if you didn't start with a thief or the master key as your starting gift. Or just play through and gank him on NG+. Or hell, if you want the DGH on your first playthrough but already killed the Asylum Demon, just trade Snuggly a Sack. She'll give you the DGH.

@Victor Fabrício On my first playthrough, I chose black firebombs and really had no need of the master key - once I met the trader in the depths and he moved to firelink I just bought it for a measly 5000 souls, and it gave me plenty of benefit from there onwards. Unless you're looking for a specific run of the game it's really uneccessary to choose it early.

I had to figure that little detail out by watching others fight the demon for the first time, and even now it surprises me Fromsoftware added a detail like that. It instantly tells you "Don't wait around or you're gonna get punished" and sets the stage for the rest of the game. Always be on your toes when fighting enemies :p

I was especially suprised to find that out since it never happened to me in my first play through. I have a very agressive playstyle, and immediately took that plunge attack, so it wasnt until I let my brother play and he waited around that I found out he does that.

No, no its not. I beat Asylum Demon easily without knowing anything, except how to hit and how to drink estus. And everyone, who I've seen playing this game for the first time, destroyed him. He is too easy, even for a tutorial boss, and he doesnt prepare you for the game. After him, Taurus Demon, Gargoyles and Kapra are too big of a difficulty spike. Now Iudex Gundyr can actually fuck your shit up.

Nemanja Perisic DS3 is a lot more unforgiving since you dont have Poise and Stamina goes away quick when your blocking. Ds1 is the most forgiving and Ds2 is just bad which makes it seem more "difficult" than 3.

Only thing that irked me was the guy who didn't know how to drink his estus, the game gives you all the instructions on the floor prior to that so that's why I get irked, won't blame them for what hasn't been informed to them yet. I can relate to spamming the light attack when I started so that doesn't bother me, nor blocking all the time. But seeing people doing this on the last few bosses of the game always saddens me.

The good old days. But they all do humanity though, you have to go back to the pre patch days to get the best experience out of DS1 imo. FAR less humanity, bosses drop far less souls, and certain bosses (Ornstein in particular) are much harder. Although you cant play the DLC pre patch, thats the only downside.

I cant wait for when you do a reaction vid for the Gaping Dragon. That boss has alot of nistalgia for me, it was the first boss in the game where I was truly proud of my victory. I was shit at the game, and every boss had my heart pounding, but the gaping dragon terrified me. I entered the bossroom with Solaire and lautrec, only to see this THING crawl up. The cutscene alone made my heart pound, because I knew I would have to fight this colossus, this thing that was easily the biggest thing ive fought yet. I lost both summons, and my attacks were barely chipping away at its health (The concept of "Upgrading" and "Stat Gain" was not known to me yet), I even ran out of estus and was down to a third of my healthbar. When I beat it my hands were flat out shaking and I was in a cold sweat. It was a euphoric feeling, a combination of the joy of victory and the relief of fear. It was at this point that the game had me hooked, I couldnt put it down from here on, even though I made my every move with extreme dread.

I went in blind, having only heard about 'Dark Souls' being such an amazingly hard game. Looking back on my journey so far (Just defeated Seath) I can see how much trouble I had in the beginning, thanks to my lack of controller-knowledge. If I had to retry the game from the start, I'd breeze through the first hour without getting hit. With time comes knowledge and experience. ^w^
