The 2024 Mazda Miata returns with a facelift, new tech, and an all new asymmetrical limited slip differential.
But let's be honest, for another year the Miata excites us with go-kart-like handling and performance that no one else can deliver under $40k. So let's check out the ND3 to see what makes it a fantastic choice for enthusiasts.

I think you hit this review spot on. This is the best drivers car you can buy under $70k and up there with the best you can buy for any money. The fact that it's a 2,300 lb roadster just magnifies the experience. Every drive becomes an event. If you enjoy driving you need to drive one, and chances are good you will fall in love. Now, justifying a fantastic 2 seat roadster in your life can be a different story. I bought mine a second car but now use it as my daily. 0 to 60 in 5.7 seconds with a 139 mph top end that will out handle most performance cars and can pull 40+ mpg on the highway makes it a pretty practical fun car.

Great review, I like the fact that you keep on showing the car while driving or reviewing the specs and it’s not only you driving, I found it very entertaining yet detailed, I have a 2023 RF GT! Great shots and quality by the way.

They are in fact the only competitors, small light weight RWD sports car. I actually placed a deposit for a BRZ just last week, but ended up came true to myself and paid additional 7K CAD to get a 24 Miata GS-P (club) yesterday. Despite being slightly slower and less in practicality, ND3 gives me the sensation the twins doesn't have. BRZ is a capable boy racer style sports car that i don't foresee myself driving it 10 years down the road, but I very well keeping my ND3 for as long as it runs

Way back in college I had an 82 Fiat Spyder roadster. That car was fun to drive.

@@stevechance150 I had the 2017 Fiat Spyder for 4 years & nothing but problems from the first day to when the warranty ended after 4 years, The Fiat was built in Japan by Mazda but the engine was made in Italy. I then bought the 2021 Mazda MX 5 & for the last 3 years, it has been completely trouble-free & a joy to have.

@@robertmiller1442 The 2017 Fiat Abarth 124 Spyder was the 1st convertible I test drove in my search for a fun convertible sports car. I was disappointed by the heavy clutch & notchy shifter feel. Also the turbo had lag so throttle response was lacking. I was not impressed & gave the 124 every chance to thrill me but it never did. The next day I went to the Mazda dealer & on their lot was a similarly equipped 2016 MX-5 Club soft top with the Brembo / BBS package. Very different drive VS the Abarth 124 Spyder. Super light clutch with a better gearbox made the shifts so much easier. The throttle response was instant from that Normally Aspirated 2.0 Liter engine. Every gear it pulled nicely across the rev band. It was hard to pry myself out of the drivers seat. After talking to the Sales Manager ( Saturday already 15 minutes past closing time ) & saying I'm still not sure on this deal we made he gives me the keys back to that Club. " Take it for an extended test drive but leave your trade in our lot & come back after work Monday to talk ". 240 miles later I was there Monday with my checkbook & my trade in to seal the deal. That feeling has never left. I always look forward to driving that car & have hit some of the worst weather while driving it ! Absolutely recommend the ND speaking from driving it 7+ years.

@@robertmiller1442 2 totally different cars in how they drive the Fiat 124 Spyder Vs Mazda MX-5. A 2017 Fiat 124 Abarth was my 1st roadster test drive ( after watching a KZbin review on it ). That test drive was in traffic & that heavy clutch was no fun. Turbo lag also deadened throttle response so that drive was disappointing. Next day was the 2016 Mazda MX-5 Club soft top with the Brembo / BBS package. Its clutch is super light & the Naturally Aspirated engine gives instant throttle response. That car now has been my daily in 4 season weather. Absolutely the best car I've owned. I agree on the BRZ / GR86 there is no substitute for having a lightweight fun to drive roadster that is so affordable to maintain & drive. The fun factor always go up with the roof down !

@@ag4allgood My 2017 Fiat 124 Spyder was a lot of fun to drive, But as I said nothing but problems for 4 years. I never knew when it would fail when I would like to take a long ride so I could not relax & enjoy the ride that I now get to enjoy with my 2021 mx 5 year after year. We both made the right choice.

I got addicted to roadsters back in 1964 with a new MGB. My 1st MX-5 was a '16, then a '17, then a '19, then a '23, of which was totaled and replaced with another new '23. Yeah, I'm an addict. I was going to take a trip up your way for one reason, The Hilltop Steak House, but found out it closed. I didn't take the trip.

Have the exact car as being tested, first MX-5, the reason to go with the Miata didn't want so much HP's to get in trouble but I wanted something that handled and I wanted a convertible. The MX-5 does all of that very very well, the sensation of speed is incredible and I believe its due to the lightness of the car, the handling is superb and it begs to be pushed, the LSD is incredible which allows for some really extreme cornering, point her into the corner and she obeys and once you see the exit its hard on and she obeys once more. Can you tell I am loving it.....almost 2000 miles thus for and look forward to starting the lil beast up every time...... I had a MGB back in the 70's, had lots of fun in the drop top, but the only thing missing in this MX-5 compared to the roadster of the 70's is my youth......

Living in South Carolina, I bought the 1st of 5 MX-5's back in Aug. of 2015. I was the only one anywhere around with one. Now on my 5th MX-5 and the 2nd 20203, the 1st being totaled, there are so many of these around here now. My 5th MX-5 is exactly the same as the totaled one, Platinum/Terracotta Napa Leather seats, I love it Man! I got a call from my daughter in Arkansas the other day, her boyfriend just bought a 2017 MX-5 and she says he can't stay out of it. I have a feeling there may be some jealousy going on over there? At 79 and soon to be 80, I go on at least 2 long rides a day. One in the morning and one in the afternoon. O, dat clutch you're talking about; it is a Progressive Clutch. It grabs at the bottom of the peddle range in 1st gear and reverse, but all other gears it's set up as though you're drag racing, it's at the top of travel.

Owned a 2016 ND3 for 2 years and put 50,000 miles ( all highway). Absolutely loved it!

A 2016 is an ND1 or just ND. I have a 2016 MX-5 Club soft top with the Brembo / BBS package & its been my daily in 4 season weather. Under rated when the snow flies & the temperatures go sub zero as most owners put them away for 4 months. I could never do that to a car. With the winter tires on the 50 /50 weight distribution shows better in those conditions. With the changes Mazda has made I ordered a 2024 Club with the BBR package. My 2016 Club has also been reliable besides bringing the driving fun everyday.

Get one. Especially if you have a WRX as a 2nd car. Then come up and drive Ocean Blvd on the Seacoast with me. The trunk will hold one full grocery cart or 4 bags of mulch. I relied on my wife's car when needed and daily drove an '18 RF for 40K and traded that in for '21 RF which now has 45K. It really is far more than a weekend toy. I added a tow hitch to be able to add a bike rack. Biggest thing to figure out is if the significant other fits in the passenger seat. That space is a bit small for full size men for long periods of time with the hump for the cat and the subwoofer taking foot space. A WRX fixes that. I just bought a '24 CX-50 to fix that problem myself.

I’ll keep my 2008 MX-5 SE, especially until Mazda decides to bring out more colours than these crappy earth tone colours. It’s a sports car, it should say fun. Earth Tone Colours scream boring. Sorry, but true.
