I can tell you why the DB7 is reliable: Jaguar (Who created the AJ16 engine, the supercharged 3.2 Litre version you have in your DB7) spent decades on their straight sixes and had *FINALLY* sorted all of them between 1994 to 1997. in 1998 They introduced the V8s. Jaguar had a briefly reliable engine for the Jaguar XJ X300 series. for just three years. They are probably the most reliable Jaguar engines ever made, period, and are as reliable as many other supposedly bulletproof engines. So after Ford purchased them, they started from scratch with the V8s and managed to recreate ALL of the problems they had with the AJ6 engines in their new engines. I'm assuming because they learned nothing at all, and Ford wanted a World Car (North American Friendly). So, Hoovie, your DB7 with it's supercharged 3.2 litre engine is reliable because it was the best engine Jaguar ever made.
@dm53744 жыл бұрын
Phil, I will second that. I owned - for 13 years!!! - an X300 with the 3.2 and yes it's bulletproof. The only issues were the crappy coils by Lucas and the timing chain tensioner. All resolved for a few hundred Euros and then happy motoring.

If you ever want to replace it, I know of one in the exact same color and body style near me. It’s in amazing condition but the only difference is it is a soft top in tan.

@@ABoringTool That's... not true at all. It'd be different if the car sat for years without starting it. But even letting a car sit months does nothing if stored inside.

The wheel patters do not match front to back. The spoke blades on the back are going forward. The wheels on the front are opposite. 17:34

those wheels are directional, you may want to change the rear wheels left to right ;)

An acquaintance of mine has a DB7... much like yours, and it might even be a manual... however, he bought his nearly new and has nearly zero problems... it's been super reliable and still looks sharp.
@biffy74 жыл бұрын
There’s something wrong with the wheels. The fronts pattern seem to have a different orientation than the rear. Take a photo of all 4 wheels. Line them up and you’ll see it.

I like that British Racing Green Aston. I would love to have that one, myself. So what if it's an inline 6. 6s would be easier to work on. And that stick shift is the way to go. The automatics in these are far more common and more expensive to rebuild or replace.

Takes me back some years when I used to live in the little UK village where the Lagonda factory turned out these DB7's. Same place where they previously made the Jaguar XJ220. Odd that the engine says it was made in Banbury, UK. The factory was just inside the village of Bloxham. Useless triva for you. More importantly, the little brook that ran alongside the factory had some great perch and pike in it. Happy days.

New wheels are a definite improvement. And when you enabled the open exhaust and stepped on it, I started chuckling and you started chuckling. It was funny to me because we sounded identical.

Well, when the newer Aston is basically a Ford Fusion x2.... and the older Aston a old school car from when things were overbuilt.... things tend to be reliable!

Well, you can always "go easy" in the neighborhood, but that sound! I want that turned "ON" at all times! It doesnt have to be "neighbor annoying" if you arent "on it", But... I do not want to have to click buttons to have a awesome sound once I'm at the corner & not within "snobby neighbor" range.

I would love to see a video just on the logistics of owning a fleet like this. Managing tags, taxes, and insurance has to be a full time job, especially as frequently as Tyler buys and sells. Does he have a monthly apt at the DMV? Then there's storing them, and managing a driving rotation. Seems exhausting.

A good car anti theif system idea would be the drivers electric seat moving forward and tilting right up to the steering wheel when the car is locked.

The DB7 is an excellent parts bin special. Electric window switches straight out of a mid-1990s Ford, along with half the switchgear. As you say, a combination of very common Ford, Mazda & Jaguar parts makes finding spares very easy. I'm all in favour of it.

You traded a set of rims that were: black, looked fine, and made well, for the rims off a new Honda Accord (not really I know). Not the best decision in my opinion but whatever makes you happy 😁

Tyre pressure lights on the dash because of the new wheels. You just need to reset it when car is off and ignition lights are on the dash. There "should" be a button you hold in to take it away.

The new wheels appear to be mounted on the car backwards. The design is directional with the front wheels pointing opposite of the back. Need one set (front or back) to swap sides.
