Great analysis, always good to review all the elements of a landing that wouldn't be considered your best. Funny, we always like extra energy for go-around in gusty conditions, but this can create more problems when committed to landing like you guys were discussing, such as runway length available and bounce due to surplus speed. Nice follow through.

I hope Kim is continuing to recover well from the bout wit covid, especially her lungs. I note the new O2 apparatus and that we're flying at 9K feet. The lung aspects of that disease can sure leave some lasting effects. Hopefully her lung diffusion capacity can return to normal as the effects of the inflammatory disease diminish over time.

@samvanbuskirk13862 жыл бұрын
@@WX4CB AoA indicators are either mounted on wings or side of the nose. They need the airflow to measure the wind going by them. If they are ice detection they shine a red light on the glass and measure the size of the reflection. Ice makes a larger reflection.
@GHRiz2 жыл бұрын
@@WX4CB They are in fact the mounts for his AoA indicators, which were initially installed right after he got them, but were later removed, and he's never really commented on them or explained why, so maybe he will for this. For example, see the video titled "ANTICIPATED SEPARATION, Flying Home From Breakfast", from Aug 2020, at around the 5 and a half minute mark, for one of the first videos I could quickly find with them installed.

Hey Baron Pilot, can you read this thread and tell me I am not F'd-up. I am not a pilot but had spent thousands of hours flight time sitting right and left seat, I was the GM and mechanic for a local FBO for many years about 15 years ago... We did every endorsement, exept for lighter than air, LOL I hated to even comment but thought people needed to hear my story...
@BaronPilot2 жыл бұрын
Not sure I’m qualified to give you the assessment you are looking for. After spending thousands of hours flying and not getting your license, you may need to have a non-pilot evaluate you 😜😉😂🍻
@csquared32602 жыл бұрын
@@BaronPilot Comes with the territory as a mechanic, lots of flight hours and no real documented formal training. Looking for your opinion of the spin characteristics of the Baron is all. VMC, power on and off stalls and recovery. I have spent so much time in the air that I have never had the desire to get my license outside of that. But I know airplanes and their flight characteristics, came up grass roots flying tail draggers and ultralights, up to Beech 18's and C45's, DC3's... They claim the Baron is not recoverable from an inverted flat spin. We were entering one and recovered... Just wondering what your thoughts were is all, you appear to have a lot of 55 and 58 time, so I thought I would ask your opinion.
@BaronPilot2 жыл бұрын
@@csquared3260 I’m only messing with you. I completely understand how and why you wouldn’t have your license. Interesting question. I don’t really have an answer for you. I know they don’t want you to spin twins in general. I’ve often wondered if that was more because they want to avoid the single engine/VMC spin. I do wish the Baron had a larger rudder more like the aero commander.

I'm still trying to deduce the alter ego or dual identity thing going on in B-P's videos. Is he the same guy piloting the corporate jets as the guy flying him and Kim in the Beech Baron around Florida and the Southeastern Seaboard? Is he a recreational owner of the Baron, or is the Baron used in business? Is the corporate jet activity a part-time or full-time gig? Is that a Part 135 aviation company? Maybe this stuff is all laid out somewhere and if so, my bad, but I get confused. All that flying activity between Fort Lauderdale Executive and St. Augustine or Punta Gorda, I don't quite get the itineraries....there has to be some explanation for these flights......anyone care to educate me on what is going on? Not that it isn't enjoyable and educational, but the underlying reality is what is missing....how or whether these aviation expeditions interrelate at all. And, no doubt about it, he has himself a real fetching "partner" in the form of Kim. We tip our hats to Kim.
