+YO_WUZ_UP A full any% 0x A press run is now possible on the Wii VC. Some starts require certain releases to be done 0x A press, but none of those stars are required for any%. So it is possible to do a full run 0x A press on the Wii VC. Now, as for the 120 ABC challenge, this just makes Wii VC tie the Japanese version on the N64. The Japanese version had 2 less A presses than the Wii VC [120 ABC], but now this new trick saves 2 A presses on the Wii VC. However, that only allows it to Tie, but the Japanese version is still faster to do the entire route. So it doesnt save any presses for the 120 star route, only the any% route. [also 70 star 0x A Presses is now possible too on Wii VC.]

NAME NAMENAME It didn't really though. you couldn't do this in original hardware. This is a glitch directly caused by the VC version and it isn't technically in the original game. VC is essentially a really accurate port, and any errors caused by the port aren't in the original game and shouldn't be counted as such. "We" haven't beaten the game in 0 A presses, and even if we do count this, there are some N64 exclusive glitches required to get 70 stars, so you can't even beat it 0x on VC.

Phase 1 was simply getting really good at the game. Phase 2 was learning how to use glitches like cloning, pedro spots, and parallel universes. Phase 3 requires analyzing differences in operating systems and Japanese/NTSC releases. The ABC team has come a long way, and i look forward to seeing what the future holds

Some, but not much, and the downsides only affect 120 star runs. There's a specific glitch unique to the Japanese version of the game called "spawning displacement" that allows you to land on top of the clock in TTC and save 2 A presses as a result. No other release, original or VC, does this.

There are also other, more technical downsides. Unlike the N64, the Wii doesn't have a TASbot, so it's impossible to replay TASes on the Wii. That puts us in a situation in which we can make a 0x TAS of the whole game, but never console verify it. Console verification is quite important in this case because this glitch was only discovered recently, so we don't know if the Wii VC emulators replicate it accurately enough for a TAS like this to work.
