Cheap tip to get a rear remote if you have front loader. I took two hoses male couplers on one end female on the other. I uncoupled the bucket hoses and plug it in using the bucket function for the rear. Used it for years on my hay roller, also easy to switch back. Cost less than $100.

Was just speaking to a rep about hydraulic top link and all they wanted to push was a 1500$ remote kit as it..." wouldn't ever work that way and would be a waste of time..." lol. Glad to hear someone else thinks same 😉

Every attachment has its purpose... that Harley rake will not do what a box blade will and a box blade will not do what the Harley rake does.. kind of like a brush hog and a finishing mower there's a difference👍

Nice job with the rake, box blades are multipurpose and do decent on driveways. A landplane is the proper tool for driveways, built my own and it works great. A 1hr grade on my 700' driveway, now takes about 20min.

Nice attachment. A landscape rake (one with the multiple fixed curved tines) works pretty good on something like this too. For really rocky soil, remove every other tine so the rocks don't clog it up. IF you on a major road, or close to one, a hoop house growing bedding plants is a major income producer too. Your ground looks perfect for it.

No doubt, a York Rake, Harley Rake is a badass beast. I used a 7’ one on the front of a skid steer some years back to remove rocks, grade out an acre of land, then to regrade my hard pack driveway. I love them! As a rental, and for such purposes, it’s the best way to go. My only quibble is that comparing one to a box blade is kind of unfair. As you mentioned, a York Rake costs $7,000 to buy, whereas a box blade is closer to $700-1,500. Plus, the box blade is useable with a simple three point hitch. I’ve been very happy with my 5’ box blade for grading and hogging out driveways. It’s a beast in it’s own right. Great results though! I love power rakes! But I also love box blades. 🤙

Hey Adam, they are a nice piece of equipment. Another quality video out of your studio! We have been running a "Harley Power Box Rake" prepping lawns for at least twenty years. There is a learning curve that goes along with them. I've read several fairly negative remarks here which I feel are uncalled for. I did notice the rake wasn't adjusted properly, which I would lay blame on the rental source for not coaching you in the proper adjustment to your tractor and conditions. Thereby making a little more work for you in the long run. We didn't see the second or third pass, so you may have dialed it in before you were finished with your project. When they're fine tuned, the gauge wheels ride on the surface and the top link of the 3 point hitch floats about halfway through the top slot allowing for uneven ground to be shaved off. On the final pass it is desirable to have the carbide nubs only engage the soil at about 1/2 to 1'' of depth, thereby just whisking the stones and debris off the surface. With a little more seat time you would likely be ready to sow seed after the 2nd pass with very little to no hand raking. The dead grass always make for the most challenging part of the project. Bless'ns to ya, Tedd

Tedd your knowledge is awesome. Would you prefer box blade in this application? Smooth out the ruts in a field like this?
@sawsurgeon
@sawsurgeon 2 жыл бұрын
@@adventurerhoades : Good morning Joshua! Not necessarily. It depends on if you’re buying, renting or borrowing... The expense of a box blade is much easier to justify. You can more easily perform this process with a box scraper in dry/hard conditions, especially if it has the scarifier teeth. Whereas the power rake will want to bounce across the surface when it’s super dry. If conditions are moist, the power rake will produce a much nicer finish. We use the power rake to grade new driveway installs and it does a beautiful job, but after the gravel is compacted and has been driven on for a few seasons, a box blade will work better. For my own use, I wouldn’t buy a power rake. However as a business we love it. You might look into a land plane, then again the soil conditions will factor in on those as well. Bless’ns to ya, Tedd

One more attachment to add to the list to remind guys when they buy a tractor get it with rear remotes. Also a hydraulic top link would accel in this application by controlling depth on the go. If folks get attachments that need to angle like this go buy 2 matching female hydraulic coupler, plumb back to back, hook attachment hoses together with this adapter, turn equipment by hand,uncouple hoses.

Hi, nice video, nice unit! You said the machine is angled so the rocks roll out to the side. If thats the case, shouldn't the black, blocking piece of steel (shows clearly at 2:28) be flipped open so the rocks and weeds roll out to the side?? You can clearly see that its hinged for that purpose.

Nice job with that power rake. Like stated before, a little more length on that top link. I would also suggest if you have the chance to use it again would be to do a pass perpendicular or 90 degrees to the first three passes. You'd be amazed at how level and smooth it would be, but what you have done looks really really great.
