well the Box Car Racer days were very hard on the Blink members. The blink breakup had a huge impact on all of the members...especially Tom, who left Mark and Travis to be with his family for a while. It just seems like Tom is really singing from the heart (compare how he sings and looks to his other live preformances.) this song is also sad...so the combination of going out and doing something new, a new sad song, and hard times for Tom made for an emotional preformance.

They said the band was overworked and stressed during this time because they got so big so fast, then seeing Tom and Travis go start another band WITH their blink manager made Mark feel uneasy. Its like if you had a group of friends and they stopped inviting you to hang out with them to go hangout with another guy.

It's just unfortunate, considering Travis played with multiple bands and groups all the time, since before he joined Blink-182. Travis would always go off to play with other bands, and Tom did BCR for the benefit of Blink-182, by wanting to push his boundaries and broaden himself musically. And it reflects in Self Titled. Tom's input in Self Titled is by far his best work in Blink (musically) when compared to the previous albums. It's so shitty that things happened the way they did. Jesus Christ, I can only imagine how incredible Blink would have become past Self Titled if they had never stopped. They were gonna be so huge. I get it from Mark's perspective, that would be incredibly shitty. But...Mark and Tom were friends for like 16 years -- they were the bestest of friends, I would think that Mark would have known better than to think Tom would try to undermine him like that. And vice versa, I would think that Tom would have thought Mark might have felt a little left out ((which I think he did during BCR, which is why Mark appears in Elevator)) but it was too late, by then. It was like a sloppy "after thought" to ask Mark to do Elevator, which still burns, from Mark's pov. @___@; The whole thing will forever make me sad. I weep at the thought of all the amazing Blink songs we were robbed of.
