We have had Boxers for 35 years and have loved every minute. Ringo, my beautiful male, almost gave his life to save my grandsons from an attack by a buck in rut when they were playing on the edge of the woods. He lost an eye and took a horrible beating, but is coming along and healing. This hero almost gave his life and I have no doubt he would do it again.

I miss my boxer. She wasn't my pet she was my bud. I never had to discipline her, she never misbehaved badly.Very perceptive dogs, they know what's going on. Their were times I swore she understood English. Her motivated good naturedness rubbed off on me. It was my honor to be her friend from the time she was four weeks until she passed over a decade later

magnus rutger ...my turns 12 this year and I can't imagine how hard it will be. I completely understand why you say it is an honor to live with them. Her hearing is going and she immediately learned new hand signals. She knew i figured out her hearing issues and I will swear she smiled at me the moment I figured it out. They are kind and patient with us trying to connect with them, they are already connected to us. Hope you get your next one soon they make a house a loving home. I miss mine too. I had my Boxer as my 18th birthday present. She was 6 weeks and fell asleep on me on the ride back home. Only for her to start crying once she woke up from my arms knowing shes not with the rest of the other dogs....fast forward to last year & She was 10, about to be 11, still wanting to eat, wanting to go on walks, wanting to be around me until 1 day i bring her inside & she just wants to lay down all day but be near me and only me. Has no energy to wanna do anything. So i do my own tests of feeding her dog food, she refuses. I feed her rice & chicken, she still refuses...i go on a walk with her within 200 feet of walking she falls down and collapses NEVER did that in her life. I was getting more concerned she has Cancer possibly. Monday comes & she just wants to lay on her bed all day & night. Tuesday we bring her to the vet for a checkup & see what result we get within 2 days. Wednesday was the moment i knew what was the worst part of having a dog... i come home crying thinking about her & she sees sme crying. Shes trying so hard to show me shes still young, she still has energy, shes MY DOG & she goes to stand on her back legs so i can catch her 2 front legs to show shes strong...only to fall down, collapse, & still willing to try to get up only to struggle even more. After that i just hugged her really tight because i knew she couldnt be her old self but i still loved her & didnt wanna let her go... Thursday i get the news thay my Boxer has both Cancer & a UTI. So that explained alot and how much she was struggling with her legs. I told the vet i wanted to put my dog down thay day & let her go to sleep. The vet was trying to convince me therapy for her but she was already 10 & also as a pet owner, you KNOW your dog better than anyone. I knew i had to put my dog to sleep that day. So i went to little Caesars & i bought the flat 6$ pizza & i let my dog eat most of it. Honesty it brought her joy & a lil bit of life cuz then once we went to the vet she had her energy back like a puppy again. But they always say when your old dog, who sleeps all day & cant walk & looks helpless start acting like a puppy around u again, its because they know theyre about to die & they wanna show you their last impression of their old self to their owner. I went to the vet after & i held my dog after the first shot. That first shot was scary as she didnt know what was happening in like the first few minutes then i held her & once i held her & she knew i was there with her until she took her last breath, she was literally snoring & basically enjoying the fact that her owner loved her as much as she loved him. As much as i hate that my Boxer is gone, I'm glad she was MY dog & she was there for me when i needed her & her as for me. For any pet owners out there, i would say enjoy your time with your dogs. Cuz once theyre gone, all they have from your are memories or pictures.

@srhatfield4 жыл бұрын
Yep! They gulp air when they eat, and that air has to come out sometime! If you want to help your nose, give the Boxer a couple of tablespoons of Dannon non-fat unsweetened yogurt with their food. The pro-bacteria in the yogurt will "eat" the nitrogen in their stomach, eliminating the foul smell of the farts. They love the yogurt and will lick the bowl clean, too! I had the privilege of having a Boxer as my best friend and learned a thing or 2 that helped him and me.

We had a boxer boy, he was my son’s puppy, so officially, he was my grand puppy. His name was Comrade, which means, buddy, companion, fellow soldier. We also called him Bubbas. He was playful, goofy and compassionate. He would adapt to every personality in our home. He’d play like a puppy with kids but he’d also be protective of everyone. He’d lick tears off anyone’s face who’d be going through a rough moment. So incredibly empathetic, he was like a little angel, always watching over each one of us. He died in his sleep at almost 12 years old, his heart too weak, he had given too much of himself. RIP, dear sweet Bubbas.

I live near the beach and he's already fixed in his mind that there is no walk if it wasn't by the beach, when he digs inexistent treasure only he can smell. We named him Tuco, after the funny character played by Eli Wallach in The Good The Ugly The Bad. My Tuco is just as funny, cunning and cutely glumsy as Eli's Tuco. It takes a lot of time "educating" and taking care of him, but it is totally worth it.

As a multi boxers hooman I would add... Boxers need lots of toys.... We rescued one abused boxer who had never been given toys before and she had worn down her teeth ( by the time she was 2 years old ) pretty badly from playing with rocks... It took a couple of months but we got her to ultimately give up rocks in exchange for squeaky toys and plastic balls. Her favorite became a vibrating, light up ball and she would sing by making a hilarious trilling noise when she played with it.

We got Millie, a faun black nose boxer, she had the most amazing brown eyes and was a beautiful specimen with many compliments coming her way when we were out walking. She seemed to be a gentle old soul from the get go, intelligent, funny and incredibly loyal. I hadn't actually given much thought as to how I might react when she passed, just enjoying and loving our time with her. My aunt's boxer was the nicest dog I ever had the pleasure of taking for a walk. A slight tug on the leash was enough to get her to stop and she never pulled me along. However if a rabbit is in the area, she'd lose her mind, "rabbit, rabbit! Chase, chase!" She would do her best to escape and chase it, and I had to use all my strength to hold her back. Once the rabbit was out of sight and she couldn't follow the scent, she'd calm down and revert to her typically chill self.

My boxer passed away a year ago at 11 years old....and he was by far the best dog I've ever had!! The only downside side is the lifespan.

My Boxers are just as described in the video. All the reasons Boxers are my favorite dogs. I love my Boxer babies

My boxer uses his paws a lot while playing. Much more than any other dog I’ve played with. He also bobs things with his paws when he’s curious. He never gets on his hind legs and boxes though 😂 He’s 8, and still a puppy. He’s slowed down some, but still a puppy compared to other breeds. #11 excessive tooting 😂

They are extremely protective of children. We have a 4 year old son and our boxer puppy is 6 months going on 7 months but anytime anyone will play with our son and make him scream/laugh loudly our pup will lunge at the person to make sure our son it okay. She loves kids and will normally try to go say hi to them and pull us but when we bring our son she ignores all the kids and puts her full attention to our son. She is extremely playful too which does get a little scary for our son since she’s so large for her age and he’s still little but she’s slowly getting the hang of realizing she’s a big girl. They are great dogs our first larger breed dog/puppy as a family and I wouldn’t trade her for anything ❤️

I've had 3 boxers in my life so far and I really want to get a 4th once I'm in a better living situation I'm definitely going to get another one! I've had Pit bulls and a Mastiff all have been great dogs and would get another pit in the future possibly as well my mastiff was amazing he was a good boy and lived to be 14 but even though he was a runt and only grew to about 125lbs I don't want a dog that big again. There's just something about the boxers energy that makes me love them like crazy.

i grew up with a boxer in my house, he died at 14 and it wasn’t even old age so they tend to live pretty long if they have no health issues! my boxer was amazing, no doubt one of the best breeds out there. they are extremely smart, energetic, protective, friendly, and caring dogs. my dog, Laulo (Law-low), was a rescue and cared for our family so much, he would sacrifice his life for us or anyone he knew we trusted! for example when i was still in preschool my mom would always take him in the car to drop me off. he always had to see me off and make sure i made it to school okay. the one day my mom decided not to bring him he actually managed to use his paws and open our door! he had memorized the way to my school from all the car rides and ran all the way over and into the playground to find me. the staff were asking who’s dog it was and no one believed me when i said he was mine! they tried to call the pound to get him but he was too speedy and wouldn’t let them close lol. eventually they called my mom and she verified it was our dog then took him home. I always love that story so much cause it just shows how amazing of a dog he was :) so intelligent and loyal, so glad i got to grow up with him.

im gonna add to proving how amazing of a breed they are lol. despite my dogs bad background as a rescue, he was always friendly to people. in the time we had him i’d barely heard him growl or bark. every once and a while he would stare out the window and growl if he saw someone coming up to our door he didn’t recognize but that’s about it! he was always friendly with other dogs, never attacked them unless he was attacked first, he loved people and kids, he didn’t even mind cats. he would always go try and play with our neighbors cats but they didn’t like him very much lmao. we would take him to the beach which he absolutely loved, he would run around and greet other dogs a lot but always stayed in our sight. he didn’t like toys all that much and didn’t really understand the concept of fetch but loved chasing snowballs and being confused at where they went when they break on the ground. such perfect goofy dog 🥰

one more story lol, i have no one else to tell these to so i hope if anyone’s thinking about getting a boxer these stories will help solidify your answer! one of my moms old friends used to have 2 pitbulls, one of them was named butch, he was blind and deaf! when we were out visiting my grandparents (who live in the middle of nowhere) we decided to bring my moms friends along so the dogs came too. Butch had managed to wander off and got lost, the house was surrounded by almost completely empty plains besides a few other houses. it was getting dark so we didn’t know what to do, we couldn’t find him, he couldn’t hear so we couldn’t call out for him, he couldn’t see us either so we had no idea what to do. all the sudden our dog, Laulo, left and after over half an hour he came back with butch trailing behind him. Laulo knew the area well so he went out and found butch, and then lead him all the way back to the house :)

Pretty spot-on. Our boxer is super affectionate. She literally holds you down to kiss you. They have so much energy and are extremely playful! She's a rescue and gets along with her rescue sister, who's an American Bulldog.... I would definitely recommend the Boxer breed!

I thought I was loyal to the APBT breed until I got my first Boxer three years ago in the middle of COVID. She is absolutely amazing! I definitely agree about them having long puppyhoods! She’s 70lbs and laying on top of me as type this comment 😂 They are such entertaining, playful, sensitive, protective, and loving dogs!

when training my boxer I got good results with food. but like they said this dog runs a little hot, so I got some amazing results when I started using water as a reward... her recall sucked when she just got food, but when she knew she was gonna get a drink, shoo wee she couldnt come fast enough. Water was a game changer for our training.

We recently adopted a boxer from a shelter, following our history of shelter dogs and we found out that her previous owner was extremely ill and probably never got to socialise her nor even show her much of the outside world. She's 3 and a giant scardy-cat. We've had her for almost a year now, at first she was terrified of us and anything that moved but now, with a lot of patience and persistence, she's the most loving dog!! Still scared of strangers, big cars and loud noises but throughout the year we've had her, she's made insane progress with getting better with these things and luckily our neighbours are helpful with training and are always patient with her, too.
