For maximum results, dont do it like in he video. Every movement should be full extension and full contraction like you are throwing from your guard.
@beablue27776 жыл бұрын
Full extension taking longer time then half punches for building up speed
@TheSpontaneousPony6 жыл бұрын
@@beablue2777 Right but youre only using half a punch with less than half of the power. Speed without power is just risk. If you can punch fast but the other person isnt feeling your punches theyll probably take a couple to hit you back real good. So the point is to get a full punch faster, unless you only want your already half extended arm to punch fast.
@gibraltargibra51026 жыл бұрын
When you punch, you should extend your arm at the poing that the shoulder hits your jaw when you in-guard.If you throw like the guy in the video, you are not gonna do speed for fighting.You are just throwing half punches pity pat
@Noname-lk2ol6 жыл бұрын
Both of you are right. You need to build half punches AND full extension punches. Half punches are good for inside fighting and to build up your feint reflexes
@TheSpontaneousPony6 жыл бұрын
No name so you’re right “half punches” are good for inside fighting but certainly none of the punches in this video are going to be used in the inside (with exception of the shoe shine he did). It’s a full different motion and punch. The shovel hooks, hooks, and short rights are different than what is shown.

Wow no bull on this at all. I REALLY appreciate the inside tips brother🙏💯. I’m working with my coach now Barney Flores and he tells me not to listen to BS on KZbin so I started experimenting on my own because I was not impressed with my hand speed. I got a resistance band, tied a knot in the middle to shorten it up for more tension and started 30 SEC drill 1,1 2 with pop action. Took the band off and was surprised my hands felt lighter. But you gave me even more ideas. Thank you! 💯🙏🔥

Agree...I started doing ankle weights on my hands 30 plus years ago in the mid 80’s and even though it gave me a feeling my hand speed increased it actually didn’t! Then while in the military a fellow boxer was watching me workout with the ankle weights and he said to me you can’t make your hands faster if they are moving slower. He then showed me the first drill in this video just hitting the bag with fast straight punches also he showed me a rubber tube type resistance band and we did the straight punches, but he also taught me to not only throw forward straight punches with the band but to turn around and face where the band is secured and pull the band towards yourself, this increased the speed of the second part of the punch the return. I had never thought about that part before but getting your hands back with greater speed is also important. I think maybe you are born with great hand speed or your not? Who knows

Where's the extension in his straight punches? Not to mention that he's not in stance or keeping his hands up. Sure, you may develop speed, but you'll have a weak guard because of how you drilled these exercises. Always drill like you were in a fight; good, balanced stance, punches coming from your guard/face and right back(grab the apple and bring it back) and always, always, ALWAYS extend your jabs and crosses. Even more so for tall, lanky guys like him. He should not be concerned with fighting on the inside. He should be learning to use his reach to his full potential.

i am not a coach, but by personal experience i suggest to use 2kg weights sometimes and other times 1kg weights so you don't stress your body too much (shoulders, even elbows sometimes) and keep switching between them. The only way to prevent injury is by listening to your body in this case
