Sir, watched your videos for years now, recommended them to boxers on various levels.. I would like to ask if you could do a video on how to approach an open sparring session with someone that is just simply better in all departments.. obviously if one is far better he/she should adapt and allow for that, but let's say that fighter A is just 15/20% better than fighter B and is not going to be forgiving in any way.. I think I know the answer but would love to hear your views on this.. keep up the great work!

I have big question, is a superman punch illegal in boxing?
@maxp2656

Yes
@Mb45946
@Mb45946 4 жыл бұрын
It’s not it’s just ineffective, with a superman punch your feinting a knee or kick to drop your opponents hands. A boxer is unlikely to fall for a knee fake and you’ll end up getting punched yourself

@@Mb45946 no u wont bruh😂 nobody in boxing expects u to jump in the air and then punch them on the top of their head, most people dont even know how to protect shots like that. Ur looking way to much into it😂, a simple jab would do the trick & all it takes is a split second for u to blink or lose focus and then bang right ontop ur dome cuz u wont be able to back away fast enough or realize what the heck im doing in the air. I could assure u alot of people would be very confused seeing their oppenent jumping in the air and not see it coming at all, only top fighters would be able to evade something like that.

This may be a silly question but what's an effective training interval for a middle aged person? 3 times a week? Every other day? I'd like to hear opinions please. Thanks in advance. I'm not training to fight. Just for fitness and self defence

Nice one really useful videos for both my own boxing and my learning coaching young novice boxers. Could you give us a run through of how a full training session would look at ur gym for both absolute beginners and those competing? Just find it interesting seeing how other gyms train!

Amazing video as always! I'm having trouble slipping as punches seems to always hit me (have my guard up even slipping so it's not much impact) but any tips? Also people who have a bit shorter length than me seem to have a better jab distance understanding. Everytime I try to jab it seems like I'm few inch away and never seem to land my jabs
@myboxingcoach
@myboxingcoach 4 жыл бұрын
Bryan - are you waiting for the punch before you slip? It's a proactive defense - try a feint and then slip and you'll probably see improvement. Don't wait for the shot...if you are going to wait do a block instead

@@myboxingcoach looking at recordings of myself the distant part seems to be I lean back and punch and that's taking my range out. I try to do what jack Dempsey does and doe the 8 on its side movement but it seems I'm always jabbed at pretty well. I guess it's something to practice more and i do notice i stop my movement when waiting for a punch. I greatly appreciate the advice!

Mr. Sands I've got question I feel silly asking this just because it's something so basic I feel like I should know this but it's been nagging at me... So lately I've noticed my cross has a bit more range than my jab (orthodox stance). Maybe 2" or 3" even. Am I doing something wrong ?? I've always thought they were the same since i was taught to gage with the jab looking for the 1-2. Thanks in advance for your help
@myboxingcoach

You're doing nothing wrong. in fact, it's an indicator that you are doing everything right i.e. you are maximizing your hip rotation...so all good👍
