Could you try to explain the falling step of Jack Dempsey? Many people tried to demonstrate it on youtube and it seems that they all failed. Jack Dempsey describes it in his book ”Championship fighting” and argues that it's the best possible way to throw a lead punch. In this context, he criticizes harsly the common jab. Therefore, it could make for a very interesting analysis (if done by an expert like you). Dempsey's version seems to be a hard punch (harder than a normal stepping jab), but also one that exposes the fighter a lot. Dempsey says he transfers his weight on the lead foot, then he raises the foot of the ground, which makes him fall forward. I think he punches as he falls, but the details of how he raises the foot (with most of the body weight on it) and of the moment he punches aren't 100% clear to me (and to many people, I think). Also, Dempsey executes it with his fist landing thumb up, trying to hit the target with the last three knuckles (primarily with the knucle of the ring finger). You can find the book on the internet. The falling step is explained at pages 14 - 16.

Tony , I start training boxing before 5 months. I don`t speak english very g00d. I remember when I saw your video with the double end bag . After this - I saw you with the heavy bag . After 2 days i bought professional heavy bag on 1.50sm and double end bag too . And everything because of you MAN. Now, after 5 months I just understand as I was moved wrong in my whole life and I start to understand the basics of boxing . I`m training 5 hours every day. After 11 hours working day .. I`m construction worker and my work is heavy . 6 days work 11 hours , 1 day rest , 5 hours training everyday ( 6 hours sleep ) ... I can`t say Thank you !! ; it`s not enought ... I love you Man !

great outstanding boxing lessons and tips. Thank You very very much! I need to try them against bullying rushing forward smaller pressure fighters, unfortunately I usually got completely lost when they have cut the distance and let them bomb me with short strong hits. I am just an amateur, many years of thaiboxing, trying always to keep people away with feet, but sometimes in english boxing sparing good boxers, obviously you have someone rushing like a bull and its kind a stupid I was letting myself as You said blocked and get bombed... So I need to move a lot, use my long straight punches to keep distance, hit hard which I believed was not a good idea imagining that the pressure will be even bigger, but I understand its to make him respect me and finally aim for the body shots.

Solar plexus shots are always good learned about that back in my early years of Karate. One spot that is actually illegal in MMA but legal in boxing is the collarbone. Takes very little to break the collarbone or at minimum dislocate or injure it. And once that happens you're done you can't throw punches as effectively. A solid straight to the collarbone he's going to feel it or it'll end the fight. Trust the shoulder shrug that usually follows and hands dropping.

Tony your videos are one of life's good things. I love it. I think after your counter jab at 13:38, (while still inside) I'd like to incorporate the right uppercut followed by the left hook.. both upstairs.

On the 1-2-1 for the shorter guy closing distance, a great variation of it is using diagonal footwork with it. The diagonal footwork forces your head to bob from side to side as you're throwing the combo. Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't think I've seen you teach diagonals Tony.

Would you be able to create videos like this, only showing when your opponent is also moving and punching? As I've been noticing in sparring, that your opponent also never stands still, so if you move to the right, my opponent also moves to the right or moves back or side ways. Hence, even though I understand these are great exercises, it would be great to see what you do when your opponent is moving too and punching back and how to apply these techniques when your opponent is doing so probably too ( so kind of like a slow sparring session + analytics). Loving the videos though!
