Doing burpees and punch combinations is such a good training protocol to simulate that muscular fatigue during a fight, where your arms and legs feel like jelly but you're still having to focus on the enemy. My confidence in sparring skyrocketed using this method, many thanks Coach!

i been doing aswell but also to build power to some degree. you completely exhaust yourself with harder pushups and dips and then throw power shots or work the speed touches to work the shoulders and tricep power. pull ups to work the lats and shoulder power. box jumps and hip thrusts to work the buttocks power. also well conditioned arms help alot with hook power regardless of palm position i noticed on myself.

Burpies is what i call the ultimate conditioning workout. I spent a number of years in prison and there were different types and ways people would do burpies and out of everything I've seen a good burpie routine would whip people into shape faster then any other exercise I've seen. But applying it to a boxing workout is genius. I've done them by myself but with a partner going back and forth with me was a perfect pace and it was more motivating for me. Especially the "navy seals" style burpies were a killer. I box/train still but I had to let the burpies go because of my knees and lower back issues. But from experience I strongly recommend burpies Especially with JT this guy is a stud, and a genius. I got tremendous respect for this man. Thank you for this video because I can put my kids to work with this video (I'm going to to have to substitute because of back and knee issues and I got to work tonight.) But I'm very careful where I recommend my kids to learn from on KZbin but PRECISION STRIKING is always a good channel with great info and JT is and awesome teacher. Even with my experience I learn so much from here. Thank you for all you do and lots of respect to you JT , God bless you and yours bro

Coach I’ve a question I wanted to shoot to you about learning to overcome fear from getting hit. So I was curious if you expose your chin and let your partner give you light taps to condition your mind to say that wasn’t so bad. Kind of like taking light jabs to the forehead to familiarize the feel of what a punch feels like. Would really appreciate your take on this idea👍
@PrecisionBoxing2 жыл бұрын
You don't really overcome the fear, you just get better at dealing with the pressure by being capable. Capable means you are good with your ability to slip, block or evade the punch. If I go spar Canelo tomorrow I"m going to have fear, because the level has gone up. You are going to take punches anyway, so exposing your chin to light taps won't do much. You'd be better of learning through light sparring while keeping good habits. Taking light jabs to the forehead is more to stop blinking, you can train out the blink reflex this way. It's not really to overcome fear. You might have a different experience, but this is the best of my knowledge.

Not really, it's not intense enough. You would be better off doing 4-6 fast paced rounds, and then doing this circuit at the end - kzbin.info/www/bejne/p6bHlWSGepaIqLM

I’ve a question related to this and boxing in general so basically I’m a beginner in boxing only started 3 weeks ago and my trainer already has me sparring advanced guys that have 5 plus years experience I don’t agree with this but what choice do I have honestly I feel like it’s dumb I’m not learning the fundamentals first and also doing pad work I feel like the club is ridiculous tbh and I have only done pads once for 5 mins ever what do u think of this ? If you could let me know your thoughts I’d really appreciate it
@PrecisionBoxing2 жыл бұрын
As long as they are not hurting you or going too hard than it is a good thing. However you at least have to know how to parry a jab, and block a right hand and left hook. It can be good or bad depending on how much you know. But I personally would have waited until about 2-3 months with some structured lessons.
@seamusodonnell98722 жыл бұрын
@@PrecisionBoxing thanks very much for the reply I will really take that into account with my training but yeah I can’t say they’ve hurt me yet I mean we’re using 16oz gloves too also when we’re sparring I’m not like hitting my jab and right hand at full power like 100% I’m kinda like not tryna to throw a huge heavy punch with full power but my trainers telling me to hit as hard as I can now I agree like In a proper fighting competition for sure hit as hard as I can but I’m afraid if I hit these guys a hard blow theyll just bully me into a corner with they’re experience and mess me up anyway it’s great to get advice from a great trainer like u 👍🏼 I love the vids too keep on posting there super helpful there really good but thanks for the reply
