Welcome back to Boxing after dark! In today's video we have to go back to 1995 for a heavyweight clash between two titans in Lennox Lewis and Tommy Morrison. Both fighters at the time where in need of a big win to regain their respect at the top

😏 HOW WELL DO YOU THINK TYSON FURY OR WILDER WOULD'VE DONE HONESTLY?
@WhiteyMcCrackerson
@WhiteyMcCrackerson 8 ай бұрын
@@terrykirk6951 fury would have done better but there’s no way of knowing for sure. Wilder’s best win was a 40 year old Ortiz who was ahead on points before being knocked out, so I don’t think he would he as dominant. Probably near the bottom of the top 10 or beyond. Guys like Tommy Morrison would have cleaned him up easily. Fury’s best win was a 39 year old Klitschko and wilder so the jury is out on him too. Neither makes any effort to fight the best. Everyone who fury beat since 2018, would not have made the top 15 or even 20 in the 90s aside from wilder. Chisora? Swartz? Whyte? Wallin? Francis? None of these guys would have cracked the top 20

@@terrykirk6951wilder would have been on the level of a Mercer or a Morrison - ie not in the top tier of Lewis, Tyson, Holyfield, Bowe, but a good challenger that makes for interesting fights. His record wouldn’t have been nearly as good. Never would have won a belt. He’d be the type of guy to knock out a Herbie Hyde, get a shot at a belt and then get wrecked by a prime Bowe. Fury would have been in the top tier. He’s a complete boxer - except for not having great power. His boxing skills are really impressive and his size would make him a nightmare matchup for most. Would lose to a prime Tyson, but then again we didn’t see a prime Tyson a lot in the 90s. In shape Bowe beats him, but out of shape Bowe may have lost to him. Lennox would have handled him easily. But he would have beaten the likes of MM, old foreman, ibiabuchi, Briggs etc.

Yes, he had so much potential. A lot of boxers had "hard times", even Tyson, but they got over them so much better than poor old Tommy. I would tentatively put money on Mike Tyson beating him, but I think it would be late round, and something like TKO. I do not think Iron Mike would paste him though. Tommy could even have beaten Mike, but I'm not sure.

Eternal respect to King Lennox and wishes of eternal peace to Tommy ‘The Duke’ Morrison for, as the narrator rightly claims, whatever happened to him outside the ring is of no concern to us boxing fans. Tommy brought excitement and entertainment, he was a proper fighter and a solid professional athlete. Each of us experiences mishaps in life, it remains a sad fact that Tommy’s brought an end to his life far too early. His fight reel will never fade, shine on Mr Morrison. Respect.

Mercer was really underrated. I was a massive Lewis fan but I think he edged it when he fought Lennox. Tragic what happened to Tommy.

Lennox Lewis looks like a bigger version of Bud Crawford....can you imagine having to face that kind of force.

Tbf. Great match! Both landing and taking some big shots that honestly I think would flatten todays standard of the heavies. Good solid effort from Tommy keep going back in end getting up. Lewis was playing. Could have ended that a lot sooner

That summation at the end was pure class and showed Tommy was a good man.

Morrison already had many a hard fights before Lewis. Which undoubtedly had taken a toll on the Duke. Would have been a more interesting fight if this had happend 3-5 years earlier.

Lewis would have beaten Tommy at any stage of his career. Tommy was a tough and exciting fighter but he wasn't an elite fighter.

No he never had the skill and his level of competition was bad full of bums compared to Lennox list of wins over top 10 contenders and former champions. Are you deaf or dumb when you missed that narration

Yes , indeed , Lennox Lewis is One of Best Ever in Heavyweight Boxing History . Anyway , Morrison was a great Warrior , also, he was world champion and facing well Great Ones such were , Lewis , Tua , etc . Tommy? I love the guy but nah. He barely cracks the top 5 of his era, which also happens to be the greatest era of heavyweights. His downfall was a tragedy.

@@gershomtan5879 Tommy had a chance to be one of the greatest boxers of all time but his growing fame and constant partying took over his dedication to boxing.. He said so himself countless of times..
