It's crazy how tough Chavez was. It's like his skin was made of steel for the majority of his career. Meldrick Taylor landed a ton of shots on Chavez, and he didn't blink. Camacho was getting some pretty good shots on Chavez, but it didn't matter. Chavez was a great defensive fighter, but when he did get hit, his skin was like a tough hide that was durable as hell. Chavez was like a Welterweight Marvin Hagler. The pressure he put on guys was like a sledgehammer breaking down shanks of beef. When I see those body shots I always think of that scene in Rocky where Sylvester Stallone is punching the raw meat and breaking the ribs. That's what you have to do to stop a guy like Camacho. To stop a boxer/mover, you pound the body mercilessly, even if you have to take a few shots here and there to get it done. Then they can't move. Also, the accuracy of Chavez's body shots was like a sniper. No low blows or anything, and he stuck to pounding the ribs only with almost no shots to the stomach. He was brutal to say the least. I think he would have done the same thing to Oscar if Oscar had fought him in 1992.

No, this fight should have happened between 1982-86 when both were at 130/35 pounders and in their prime but Chavez people knew he would have had a major problem with Camacho. They waited for Camacho to be on his downfall to take this fight. When Chavez fought Camacho 1992, he was a shell of himself…
@evilwayz1464 Жыл бұрын
1982? At 20 years old? '84 at 24? Too green. Camacho's prime was when he fought Chávez. If anyone was on his way down, it was Chávez. By then, he had already fought Taylor, and though chavez won, he took probably the worst beating of his life. After that Chávez next two opponents: 1 had 4wins-3L, the other 5W-3L, basically trash to get his confidence up cause he had retirement thoughts. Time to accept reality and leave fantasy alone. Camacho was in his prime. Chávez a year before had thoughts of retiring.
@juliorivera1354 Жыл бұрын
@@evilwayz1464 wrong that was not Camacho’s prime. ..his prime was between 83 when he won his first belt against Limon until 86 when he took on Rosario in Madison Square Garden. Against Rosario he was hurt for the first time in his career and changed his fighting style to avoid getting hit..which is when these two should’ve fought and honestly Chavez lost that fight against Taylor. One of the biggest robberies in boxing history. Stopping a fight with 2 seconds left in the match. He was gong to lose by unanimous decision…just ridiculous…
@evilwayz1464 Жыл бұрын
@juliorivera1354 do at 21-24 was camacho's prime. Highly improbable. Don't remember when was the last time I thought a fighters prime: physically, mentally,emotionally, experienced wise in the ring & outside of ring, was at 21-24. Too green, inexperienced: De La Hoya, Trinidad, Tyson, Pacquiao, Mayweather, Hagler, Duran, Roy Jones, Benavides, Canelo, GGG, Dmitry Bibol, 🤔 NOPE! Not at 21-24, you can even go outside of boxing into other sports and won't find an athlete was in his prime at 21-24. Not Michael Jordan, not Tiger Woods, Brady, not Michael Jackson. Sorry kid. The evidence is just not there. Rosario fighting opponents like Ramos 7W 2L, Valdez 10W 7L, Montoya 15W 7L, just before fighting Camacho, I'd be extra hesitant calling Camacho his prime when his competition was fighting mediocre competition. Definitely not his prime.
@juliorivera1354 Жыл бұрын
@@evilwayz1464 I could tell you’re a youngster trying to prove a point. That was my era…It’s like saying Mike Tyson was at his prime when he fought Holyfield and Lewis when people that actually followed these boxers in that era knows Tyson was not the same fighter when he fought both. The same holds for Camacho. He was at his best between 82-86…Chavez and Camacho were set to fight at 130 and they never did…but if they did it would have been a totally different fight. Anyone that knows these boxers knows that Camacho was a shell of himself when he fought Chavez..

I watched this fight as a kid. I was a Chavez fan. That night, it was amazing. Now watching Camacho years later, I have a new found respect for him. He was a great fighter.

Chavez is currently a boxing broadcaster in Mexico. After Macho passed away he said that all that Camacho said before the bout was to help sell the fight and he never insulted his family or went personal as other boxers did. And he did a great job because I oh so wanted Chavez to knock him out. RIP Macho.

81-0, why did the make such a big deal of Floyd going to 50-0? (mostly fighting bums and washed up greats) 81-0 was insane

Respeto para Camacho. De un Mexicano que le gusta ver boxear a Guerreros de verdad. Nacho se fajó contra uno de los más grandes y aunque perdió, perdió de pie 🫡

I didn't think anyone would handle Camacho like Chavez did, I never gave Camacho marks for courage, but he fought it out and hung in there like a true warrior.

Camacho was a great talented fighter that lack discipline. The ring was the smallest possible also to help Chavez cut it faster. Camacho said he was going to stand with him and he did. Chavez gave him credit for doing it. I saw this fight live. Camacho was living a crazy lifestyle. Chavez is the greatest Mexican fighter ever.
