If you dig in a the Greek mythology department, you'd find in Hades (not quite "Hell" in the Christian sense, if you make exception of Styx, Acheron, Phelegeton shores and of course Tartarus) there were three judges, all ancient mortal kings: Minos, Rhadamatys and Aeacus. I wouldn't be surprised if the Auditor and Assessor were, in a way, partially inspired of them despite being rather "law executive men".

@@trteeerryfse-wy2ww I thought the "tears of children" bit was a little corny. Also, he used that because the monster being assessed was a paedo. After hearing despicable acts for millennia, nothing would shock the Auditor. Nothing would interest him either (except when he misquoted the Bible - probably the only unique thing that happened that day for him). Incidentally, I loved the Hulu remake. I think the assessor is supposed to be based partly on the concept of “sin-eaters”. For those who don’t know, this was something of an actual profession WAY back then where someone would take upon themselves the sins of another soul via a ritual meal to absolve them of said sins - and from what I heard it can be done to the sin-eater when they die by another one. The concept has been explored in modern media, one example I can think of being in Sleepy Hollow

To be honest, this was not a very good movie. The premise is good but the writing was poor.

The auditor is one of my all time favorites. He's not entirely evil nor is he entirely good, but he's in the middle. In some ways he's innocent, too. It's a shame they didn't keep him in the hellraiser franchise or create a spinoff series about him. It would be a hit.

I wished they would have kept this character. He's interesting, at first comes off evil but as the movie progresses he's actually the hero. This by far the best character besides pinhead.

Honestly I’d rate it pretty highly for the “slasher” genre, I also love the ending, because the cenobites have come to fear nothing, perceiving all “sensations” as pleasurable as long as they’re extreme. And then you see him sitting there begging for change, no more nails or other flesh piercing implements, no supernatural chains or torture chambers, just punishment in the form of life 😂

even the bible strongly indicates that hell is not a place at all, but a state of being. It is a spiritual state and hellfire is not physical fire, but a metaphor for spiritual torment.

When i saw this scene. The assesor dropped childrens tears on the papers before eating them. And then he vomited into the funnel but it wasnt blood but more "vomit" like. What scene did they use in the movie? The children tears to wetten the papers and "regular vomit" made it more uncomfortable and unnerving i think.

The previous 'vomit' scene was from IIRC a peodphile or serial rapist. The Assessor's vomit was him regurgitating the sins to be weighed. IN this veteran's case the sins were so vile it poisoned and nearly killed him.

this is a crazy concept. they not only have to confess to all the things they did, and either they're blood, or what i'm guessing is supposed to represent their sins being the inc to type all their sins, but that even the assessor was too disgusted by what he did.

What is it about old typewriters that is so creepy?? That particular style with the metal frame, before the sleek IBM machines came out? This isn't the first time that I've seen a typewriter like that in a movie.....I just don't know what it is about those machines that freak me out 😮
@ThyBlackWings5 ай бұрын
too many people died shortly after they saw someone typing the details of their case right infront of them on these machines. your soul is just remembering their despair, the vibrations. acknowledge them and let them go. choose to see the beauty of the existence. not the ugliness. let it go.
