Montana is gorgeous. I went there many years ago and sat off to the side on a beautiful river watching the people I was with fly fish on a nice sunny July day. We missed the bears on Glacier Mountain by just a few days when we went and were able to throw snowballs at each other because there was still snow on the mountain. Very cool. The mountain goats made their appearance too.

I backpacked through western Montana for a few months, only taking a large supply of dried fruit for food. Also took a small rod. The lakes up in the mountains were stocked 70 years ago, and have since grown huge populations of fish that are massive and easy to catch. I ate like a king every night, and spent a month sleeping in a hammock under the stars. I would do it forever if I could.
