Apparently in New York clubs where they played this they all thought Queen were Afro American New Yorkers not some English dudes and the chap from Zanzibar Freddie.... Queen are one of those bands that go from R&B, Operatic, concert hall to pop to whatever with ease........ Song remind me of cocaine scene and gun violence and playing space invaders ! So many of the greatest groups do a few great songs in different genres since The Beatles really.. They were lucky enough to grow up with TV, no National Service, concert hall, all the Blues records at Liverpool docks and Elvis and Chuck Berry , Little Richard, Howlin' Wolf, Buddy Holly and all. Queen had this and The Beatles and opera and hard rock ...... Great song...... I was kind of shocked with Spotify in 2022.... Queen and Pink Floyd were two of the top played acts!! That alone shows that these groups are music set to last and stay. I agree with so many comments from these two and about Queen being like entertainers... its true... Can't believe I am clicking so many of these on this channel... on a Sunday evening.. Just felt like a quiet night in : ))

Which is why I use 10” subs for the additional “punch” to bass drum sound. Punchy bass is the higher end of bass octaves, roughly 40-88hertz. All the frequencies below 40 are “boomy” sounds of bass. Frequency is so imperative to accurate bass reproduction. You can actually design your stereo to optimally play a certain band’s unique sound. I designed mine for the hardest band to reproduce accurately, Tool💯. They have more polyrhythms than any band and it is laughable how far they own prog metal🔥

Michael Jackson was good friends with Queen and was in and around the studio when Another One Bites The Dust was recorded. Not that MJJ ripped Queen off, but he knew exactly the direction he wanted to take with the Thriller album after hearing this song. The influence is clear, something Michael didn't deny.

@@NeolithGrey "I listened to a lot of soul music when I was in school, and I've always been interested in that sort of music. I'd been wanting to do a track like 'Another One Bites the Dust' for a while, but originally all I had was the line and the bass riff. Gradually, I filled it in and the band added ideas. I could hear it as a song for dancing but had no idea it would become as big as it did. The song got picked up off our album and some of the black radio stations in the US started playing it, which we've never had before. Michael Jackson actually suggested we release it as a single. He was a fan of ours and used to come to our shows." -John Deacon So, as you can see, Michael suggested they release it as a single (after it was already written and recorded). Queen did not write this song because Michael told them they needed a dance club hit, as you say.

You’re close, but the guitar is named the Red Special. The fireplace mantle is probably the main component of the guitar, but Brian and his dad really did use odds and ends from around the house to construct the guitar. 🎸 If I recall correctly, one of his mom’s knitting needles is in it!

If you ever get to the point that a Queen song does not sound different from the Queen music that you have already heard, you have probably listened to almost all of their music (OK slight exaggeration there, but only slight). Having said that, this song was so different from anything Queen had done before, that the band argued over whether it should even be on the album, but a certain Queen fan on hearing it, told the band it should be released as a single, because it would be a hit. That fan was Michael Jackson and in the US, the single was #1 in the 'Billboard Hot 100' and 'Cash Box' charts and #2 in Billboard's Disco and Soul charts, and in the top 10 of all but 4 of the worlds popular music charts, and to date is the best selling Queen single.

The sound effects were likely made by Brian May's 'red special' guitar that he and his father made from wood found around the house. The guitar neck was made from a fireplace mantel. The reason the guitar could make so many sounds is that John Deacon, the bass player has a top electronics degree and rebuilt Brian's amp with scavenged parts. Brian returned to University to study physics and is an astrophysicist. Roger Taylor, the drummer, has a degree in biology. Freddie had a degree in graphic arts with an emphasis in fashion. He designed many of his stage costumes and also the Queen logo that you'll see at the beginning of all of Queen's official videos.

The instrument was not really the bass drum, just one part, mostly it was the bass guitar. Rarely is the bass guitar allowed to the front of a song. Most of the time it remains in the background like the glue that holds the song together, not so noted in its presence, but surely noted in its absence.

I like how English rock bands had the genius to incorporate disco beats into their music. Queen and Pink Floyd in particular. Their similar coincidences: Another One Bites The Dust and Another Brick In The Wall both lead with "another" in the title. Both songs use disco beats. Both songs were written by the bass players. Both songs were number 1 in the same year.

Since you mentioned Metallica you should react to Queen’s Stone Cold Crazy live at the Rainbow 1974. Metallica covered this song years later and was awarded a Grammy for it. Enjoyed your reaction.

This monster hit was written by John Deacon (bassist) & it was a pet project of John & Freddie. MJ loved it “that’s it, that’s the gravy”. Then encouraged Queen to release it as a single said it would be a big hit. #1 in U.S. & U.K. FYI - MJ was a fan of Queen & would go to their concerts when Queen was in L.A. Thank you for your reaction!!

Sorry but when did you all get this nonsense that Michael visited Queen in the studio during recording AOBTD. They recorded it in Munich, Germany, Europe and at that time Michael probably wasn"t doing any trips to Europe. Michael was attending their concerts and then he advised them to release it as single. But the truth is that John Deacon wrote this famous bassline during a visit in New York in one of the studios where band Chic recorded song Good Times which inspired John to pen this song

And another one, and another gone, another one bites the dust! Ohhhhhh yeah!!!! Is this the original? For real??? Yeah, this is the original. Queen are original, every time. I'm sure you've heard these many times in some many movies, commercials, whatever. Queen are universal, they absolutely are. Best band. Period. John Deacon, who plays the bass, wrote this n1 song.

Facts about “Another One Bites the Dust” This song was written by John Deacon. The bass line was inspired by the classic 1979 “Good Times” by the R&B band Chic. That is why it has such a familiar funk beat to it.
@Ottawajames
@Ottawajames 2 жыл бұрын
This track is often used in conjunction with battle scenarios, as the colloquial term ‘biting the dust’ refers to a person dying, on top of the overall hard sound of the song. However, it seems that this tune is actually just as much, if not more about a tumultuous romance than it is physical violence or death. The track begins with the scenario of a guy walking down the street, on his way to a gunfight. This section was actually inspired by real-life, historical gangsters. In fact the term ‘bite to dust’ is said to have been specifically linked to the infamous Chicago mobsters during the Prohibition period of American history. However, in the second verse, the subject of the song switches to that of a romantic relationship. Here we find Queen frontman Freddie Mercury stating that his partner has deserted him and in the process left him with nothing. And he sarcastically asks this person if they have actually found contentment in doing so. So in this section of the song, the singer seems to use ‘biting the dust’ as a reference to yet another lover. The content of the final verse can be applied to the situation presented in the first verse or that of the second. In this section, the band is basically exclaiming that no matter what opposition comes their way, they are prepared for it. They are going to stand strong throughout the whole confrontation! In the late 70’s, several huge rock bands did songs that are really disco (my favorite) at heart; this is one of them!❤️❤️❤️ Other examples are Rod Stewart “Do Ya Think I’m Sexy” and The Rolling Stones “Miss You” (Mick Jagger was spending A LOT of time at Studio 54 at the time). Bronx/Brooklyn girl here; would Love it if you reacted to these songs and some deep disco, too! 🙏🙏🙏
