I used to scrub my hair like my life depended on it, dry it incredibly aggressively, buy the cheapest shampoo, not use any aftercare, and literally do the opposite of everything Brad said to do... My hair was destroyed. But when I started to follow Brad's tips my hair quality instantly improved and I could tell it's healthy. Thanks so much for this, you saved my hair.

Hair fall control tips that have been effective for me: • Use mild shampoo only on your hair like liitlexteral coocoonion shampoo. • Begin with a pre-rinse using a hair rinse green tea hair rinse. • Separate the hair in sections and cleanse in sections: beginning with the scalp, followed by the middle, and lastly the length. • Lather your shampoo well a lot and scrub with your fingers the shampoo into your hair and do the same while rinsing out. • Apply warm Cocoonioooon oil and massage it into the scalp and tie hair in a protective hairstyle.

I would love to see a series where you “prescribe” someone with a hair care routine with products suited to them and show the results at checkpoints like a day, a week, a month and then an overall before and after! Some examples would be someone with thin, oily, bleached hair Or something with thick, curly, colour treated hair I’d particularly like to see my hair type which is oily, fine, bleached, naturally wavy with hardly any volume at the root. I’ve never been able to tame my waves so they aren’t frizzy and kinky.
@chloemacey91355 жыл бұрын
I love that idea! I'd defo binge a series of that 😂😄

1. Use warm water, it opens up your cuticles 2. Scrub gently or you may lose a little hair 3. Side to side motions to not tangle it 4. Suds don't do anything 5. Don't scrub your ends, focus on scalp 6. Use two dime sized amounts of shampoo, one at the front and one at the back of the head 7. The amount of times you need to wash your hair depends on how oily your hair gets 8. How long you leave your conditioner on also depends (he does three minutes though) 9. Don't scrub your hair with a towel after washing 10. Don't put it in a turbun (idk how that's spelled)

Brad, seriously, I really didn’t know how to do this the right way. I have very thick hair and I was getting an itchy scalp, and had a feeling that I was using too much shampoo. It’s difficult to get all of that product rinsed out. After using your tips, my scalp and hair are so much more comfortable every day (while I only wash about 2 times a week). Thank you so much!
@shrimpygirll Жыл бұрын
I would also if you want a natural oil to add to your shampoo is tea tree oil. It will help with itching of the scalp and products to promote less dry scalp. as in washing your scalp only with a all natural shampoo for dry itchy scalp. Worked for my itchy scalp. Plus less washing of hair per week.

I followed every single step that you talk about and now I am on day two with no product build up and no grease and my hair is lovely and clean and back to normal. I also watched your *Hard Water* video and did get a filtering shower head, but this video is the one that has saved my hair. I am still learning and am currently going through your videos to teach myself on how I can keep my hair nice and healthy and looking great. Here’s my notes: 1) Water temperature - warm 2) How hard should you scrub? - Gently, otherwise you’re gonna damage your hair 3) What do suds do? - Nothing 4) Which parts of your head should yoh wash? - scalp only 5) How much shampoo should you use? - 2 dime size amounts, one for the back of the head & sides and one for the top 6) How often should you wash your hair? - No correct answer, because it’s dependable 7) How long should you keep the conditioner on? - Well, a few minutes should be just fine for nice hydration, but if you want more hair care - better go for a hair mask 8) Don’t put your hair up after shower - when it’s warm, it’s the most fragile, and you’re risking getting partially bald 8) Do some research, read about your type of hair, and start using some products fitting for it - for example oils for dry hair, etc. Washing your hair properly is important, but aftercare is too. 9) Don’t buy cheap shampoos:) They might be bad for your hair. Buy quality products, it’s worth it.

Honestly just try switching to a salon brand shampoo and conditioner for just one bottle and you will never go back! Watch how much less hair falls out/in your brush and how much faster your hair grows. Also you need to use so much less of salon brands because it is 3-5x more concentrated. I actually save money by buying shamp and cond only from a salon because it goes so much further. Just do a one bottle trial (2 bottles cuz 1 shamo and 1 cond) and you will never go back!
@gorlheck55745 жыл бұрын
Tinkerbell loveBEAR fair point, but some people literally do not have the ability to use that much money at once lol
@TinkerBell-bt6vu5 жыл бұрын
@@gorlheck5574 no of course I understand that but I was just letting you know it could actually save you money in the end because of how concentrated it is and how little you have to use for the same result. And it lasts so much longer. So one could start putting away 10$ a month for 3 months and then make an investment. And then it will last a lot longer so you will have time to save up again. Because it makes such a huge difference in your hair, scalp and you will notice so much less hair in your brush and your hair grows healthier and stronger also. So it is an investment and people invest in diff things that are important to them. If not then do some research into the diff ingredients brands use and stay away from sulphates and other harmful chemicals. Some drug store brands aren't too bad. It was just my anecdotal evidedence of my expirience and why I make that investment personally because I noticed a huge diff and use way less product cuz it goes so much further. God bless yoh.

Okay, I know this video is almost 3 years old, but it legit helped me so much. I kept having problems with feeling like my hair is so oily and greasy and I didn't understand why. Then after watching this, I realized I was using WAY too much shampoo & conditioner and that I've been applying shampoo the wrong way my whole life because no one ever talks about how they wash their hair! Last night, I followed these instructions and my hair feels clean, non-greasy, and non-oily for the first time in months. Thank you so much Brad!

Dry shampoo is life. I used to wash my hair every other day. Now I wash it once a week. Day 1- wash; day 2- still ok; day 3- dry shampoo; day 4- dry shampoo and put it half up; day 5 & 6- dry shampoo and put it in a pony tail or messy bun. But you have to get there gradually, over several weeks to months. A good dash of laziness goes a long way with this process.
@DianaTavaresxx5 жыл бұрын
It took me a lot of trial and error but for me I had to start by finding the perfect dry shampoo (I ended up using Pantene Volume or Not Your Mothers as a last resort) and I started off by washing every other day and using dry shampoo on the days I wouldn't wash my hair. It took about a week or two for my hair to get used to it but if you keep up the pattern it'll fix itself. Oh and I also recommend not touching your hair very often because the oils from your hands will transfer over to your roots! I try to opt for hairstyles that'll keep my hair out of my face so I can avoid touching it.
@Emma-oi8ot5 жыл бұрын
YES! The day after I take a shower my hair looks like I haven't showered for a week. I have super thin and fine hair too so dry shampoo usually makes it look weighed down and worse.
@pumpkinkoot8655 жыл бұрын
Dry shampoo is still shampoo if you're trying to slow your oil production. If you're drying up that natural oil, you're telling your scalp it needs to produce more. If you can push yourself to day 4 without dry, it will make you produce even less oil overtime and as your scalp acclimates you'll be able to do that again and wait 1 more day between. Can always "cleanse" with conditioner in between. Just water removes excess oil and by using conditioner it won't tangle like just h20 might
@pumpkinkoot8655 жыл бұрын
@@DianaTavaresxx I was basically going to suggest this same thing, but then didn't want to try to figure out how to explain it. I'd add an extra day between washes and wash that way 6 or 8 times before adding another.

But preferably once a week. - leave conditioner atleast 3 minutes but don't go beyond 15 minutes. - don't scrub your hair with towel. Just scrunch the bottom and scalp with it. - don't put your hair up in a turban Edit: thanks for the corrections

Still Fangirling about Draco Malfoy A lifesaver for me is using a hair mask/deep conditioner once a week. It's basically an extra thick and creamy conditioner that infuses your hair with vitamins/essential oils/natural ingredients. It was a night and day difference for me. My favorite is Heaven in Hair from Devacurl, but a great inexpensive starter is the one minute mask by Garnier Fructis(link below). Apply to clean wet hair and leave in for 15-20 minutes. Bonus points for using a blow dryer on your hair for 30-60 seconds to open your hair cuticle up to receive even more moisture. By the end of the month you'll see a huge difference in your hair. Hope this helps!! www.walmart.com/ip/Garnier-Fructis-1-Minute-Hair-Mask-with-Avocado-13-5-fl-oz/414335958?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=0&wl13=172&adid=22222222228128405310&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=m&wl3=235173810697&wl4=aud-430887228898:pla-388651893318&wl5=9022854&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=8175035&wl11=local&wl12=414335958&veh=sem&gclid=CjwKCAiAjrXxBRAPEiwAiM3DQqQPUizICX-wpXiz6BIEMAkBdMDXVGXkCyo_n2zC0CZZXVowNFearBoCbr4QAvD_BwE

Still Fangirling about Draco Malfoy I have natural thin hair too (as everyone in my family my poor future kid) What helped me a lot was that I stopped using shampooing and conditioning. My hair would always get overwhelmed by conditioners (since they are aggressivelly trying to force nutritions in your hair so my hair would break because it has neither the space for the nutritions nor the strength to go through that several times) I use a vinegar water mix to rinse my hair of once a week and my hair made such an improvement. If you want to use conditioners make sure they are mild and for fine and thin hair. Not that hair related: I started using mild hair soap because it way for sensitive so my scalp doesn’t produce that much oil anymore. I went from basically feeling like I have to wash my hair the same day in the evening to washing it every three days with these two changes. And it is healthier than it ever was.

edit: so glad this is helping so many people, and thank you lovely people who have left wonderful comments under this comment! 1) Water temperature: LUKEWARM is the best temperature to wash your hair. Washing your hair with cold water is not necessary. Warm water will open up your hair cuticles. 2) Wash your hair GENTLY. Side to side motions, not round motions. 3) Suds don't do anything, they are just a visual cue. If your shampoo does not sud a lot, it's fine. Companies put a lot of surfactant to help people feel like their hair is getting clean. Don't pick shampoos just for suds. 4) Focus shampoo on your scalp. Don't work the shampoo down the ends of your hair, this will damage the ends. The end will get shampooed while washing the hair out. 5) Most people need around two dimes of shampoo for their scalp. (For y'all outside the US: a dime is a small coin, 18 mm in diameter, maybe 2 pea-sized). You do not need a lot of shampoo even if you have super long hair because you're focusing it on your scalp. 6) Focus shampoo on the parts that get the most oily. 7) Wash your hair as often as YOUR hair needs it. Every day, other day, week, etc., if it works for you, do it. If you can, try to move away from washing your hair daily. Brad likes to wash his hair once a week. 8) "Everyday" shampoo does not mean wash your hair every single day. It means a shampoo that is formulated gently enough to wash your hair every day if you need to. 9) Leave your conditioner on for at least 3 minutes. You don't really need to exceed 15 minutes. 10) You might like to follow up your conditioner with a hair mask to add extra hydration. 11) Don't scrub your hair with a towel with you get out of the shower. Gentle squeeze-scrunch your hair upwards to mop dry. Don't put it in a towel-turban because this will yank at the roots at the front. 12) Use after-care products. Dry hair can use leave-in or oils; oily hair can use dry shampoo. 13) If you're paying a super low price for your shampoo, it will not have any great ingredients. Spending a premium price will go a long way for your hair.

Ok… I’ve gotten SO many compliments on my hair (color) when going to hairdressers (“is this your natural color?” - “wow, your natural hair color is SO pretty!”) - I tell about half of them I’ve been using a $6 bottle of Sun In for about 25 years. That’s quickly followed by, “OMG! That’s SO bad for your hair!” (…post-compliment…) SO, I’m taking the plunge & will spend a small fortune (comparatively!) on a professional color/highlight. Scared, but fingers crossed…! 🥺😬

Do you know how much money I would have saved if I could have the same thing happen to me? 😂 me neither and I’m not keen to find out some people are the no effort kind of beautiful all the time and I’m so jealous.

I wash my hair with cold water only bc I have school and when I'm in a hurry, I have no time to make lukewarm water to use (my bathroom doesn't have those automatic temperature thingies) so I just use what I have. It'll be christmas break tho so I'll definitely take better care of my hair.

I absolutely love watching you. Every time you talk about washing hair, I find I'm doing everything you suggest (other than having bought your hair cleansing products, yet), and my hair grows ridiculously long, and fast. It's to my keister, at the moment, and unadulterated from its favorite shade, chocolate brown, with prismatc white/greys..... I think it's about time to clip and donate......AGAIN.

@@sulsur4151 I have used many different shampoos ranging from cheapest to high end, expensive ones really makes a difference but we love natural marketed one like yves rocher. I swear that shit stop hair losing like a magic, my mother and brother obsessed. I love the loreal professional ones but I can't afford it most of the times. I just buy it sometimes when I dye my hair to red, ginger or silver. Without it I can't untangle my hair after bleaching 3 times lol. And cream/sulfate frele shampoos are really practical when you have dry hair, scalp or dyed your to pink (which goes away in 2 washes if you wash it with normal shampoo) or you wash your hair everyday. I would say give it a try. Yes both cheap and pricey shampoos has similar/same ingredients but the percentage or quality of the ingredients makes the difference.
