It’s a 1990s Russian missile with a new seeker. Kinematically it’s yesterdays news and is still active radar when the best in class are IIR with target recognition. I’ve still no idea what gives it a land attack role as antiship radar isn’t discriminating enough, at those frequencies, for resolution to hit point targets ashore. See all the issues Russia has had trying to use Oniks (the baseline version of BrahMos) against shore targets in Ukraine. I know it’s a big thing for India and you love to wave the flag, but, it’s not the best anything.
@Shubham_Bahirat
@Shubham_Bahirat Ай бұрын
@@SteveJones-om6ks i really don't think it's the best thing India ever made or something Also you said IIR, well that missile has range of 300kms or 186mil there is no IIR sensor that can track the target that far Also I get ur point that you think missiles should have stealth capabilities that's western thinking but russian thinking is you make missile so fast if even you detect it still you can't do anything. It flys at mach 2.8 almost 2x faster than bullet
@SteveJones-om6ks
@SteveJones-om6ks Ай бұрын
@@Shubham_Bahirat I agree I think that India has made far more impressive technology than this. In both cases IIR and radar the seeker is only active in missile terminal phase. The BrahMos seeker was good for about 50km originally I dont know whether that’s been upgraded but you don’t really need more. Radar horizon effects would limit range for a low flying weapon anyway. Problem with the speed is it only offers advantage if you pick the missile up late. Oniks/BrahMos has to fly high altitude in mid course to get standoff range. Without stealth its detected so far off, even with the speed, that there is plenty of time to activate defences and at least 3 naval SAMs I’m aware of have been successfully tested against Coyote drones simulating BrahMos terminal phase speed and height. It’s by no means useless, the range of the weapon means it denies a lot of sea space to anyone not equipped to deal with the weapon. Time has moved on though and it is showing its Cold War roots.

What u talking as said by Oppenheimer as first nuclear weapon was most likely Brahmashira not bramhastra. Bramhastra described target centric, can destroy a powerful enemy if they doesn't possess an alternate counter weapon (e.g, Brahma danda, a weapon of self-defence, only be possessed by Brahmanas & its powers are dependent on its owner, Its like a rod capable of absorbing any incoming attack towards its owner. When Vishvamitra in a fit of anger, unleashed Brahmastra onto Vasishtha, it was his Brahmdanda that protected him from lethal bramhastra) Whereas Brahmashirā astra described 4times stronger than normal bramhastra, causes chain reactions of massive explosions & waves to annihilate any desired entity of the Universe or even the Universe itself, it causes collateral damage to every useful resource in a given area & prevents even a single blade of grass from ever growing in that area for next 50 brahma yrs. It's mentioned that there would be no rainfall for 12 Brahma yrs (12 Brahma yrs = 37.32 trillion human yrs) and climate conditions will worsen. The strike of Brahmashirā astra will eventually destroy everything, it's said that when this invoked, "It blazes up with terrible flames within a huge sphere of fire, Numerous peals of thunder heard, fissures start on earth, rivers become dry, 1000s of meteors fell & all living creatures became terrified with great dread. The entire sky seemed filled with noise, assumed a terrible aspect with flames of fire. The whole earth with her mountains, waters, trees trembled". Russia uses Onyx. The father of BrahMos. A missile with outdated avionics compared to BrahMos. Most Chinese warships use the YJ-83 missile, which is subsonic instead of supersonic like BrahMos, has the same radar cross section as BrahMos, and has lower range (only 180km when launched from surface), instead of 290 km for export BrahMos or 600 km for Indian BrahMos). And before you start with "hYpeRsONicS," let me remind you, India has also tested scramjet engines that have sustained thrusts at Mach 6. China or Russia or USA aren't the only ones working on this tech, which is yet to properly enter service at scale. Again, the primary anti-ship missile of China is still the outdated YJ-83.

Brahmos buy by the Philippines is the big mistake. They could have bought the U.S. HIMARS INSTEAD OF A VERY HEAVY CUMBERSOME BRAHMOS. You need an 18 wheeler heavy duty truck to haul this missiles. I doubt the truck with a load of heavy brahmos can tackle the Philippines terraines. Easy target and you cannot move and hide it.
