In today’s episode, Becket reviews the Barbie movie and addresses its extreme feminist overtones. This movie was hard to watch no only because the plot didn’t make any sense but because of the non-stop propaganda throughout. This is a must (not) see movie!

ABOUT BECKET:
Becket Cook was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. He attended Jesuit College Preparatory
School of Dallas. After graduating from college, Becket moved to Los Angeles to pursue his dream of writing and acting, finding success in both. He eventually went on to become a production designer working with the top photographers and directors in the world on fashion shoots for magazines such as Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar, and for ad campaigns such as Gap, L'Oréal Paris, and Nike.
Finding a new sense of freedom in L.A., Becket also fully engaged in his new life as a gay man. He had a series of many relationships with men throughout the next fifteen years.
In September of 2009, Becket met a stranger at a coffee shop in Silver Lake who invited him to his church in Hollywood called Reality L.A. Becket reluctantly agreed to attend the service. After hearing the sermon that Sunday, Becket was utterly transformed by the gospel and gave his life to Christ. He also knew on that day when God revealed Himself to him that homosexuality was a sin and that he could no longer live that life. Becket was more than happy to count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus his Lord.
Becket spends much of his time in ministry speaking at churches, universities, and conferences helping believers (and non-believers) understand this issue biblically, theologically, culturally, and personally. Balancing grace and truth when teaching on this subject is of primary importance. His goal is to challenge the current cultural narrative about sexuality in general and homosexuality in particular by demonstrating through his personal testimony and biblical truths that, yes, homosexuality is still a sin, and that following Christ is infinitely more satisfying and joyous.
He has lived all over the world in major cities such as Rome, Vienna, and Tokyo.
Becket graduated from Talbot School of Theology at Biola University in 2017 with a Master of Arts in Theology.
Becket’s book, A Change of Affection: A Gay Man’s Incredible Story of Redemption, with a
foreword by Francis Chan, published by Thomas Nelson, released July 30, 2019.

I went to see Sound of Freedom yesterday and saw so many girls wearing hot pink outfits to go see Barbie. It amazes me how clueless these girls are. They want to be feminine and dress alluring to men but at the same time think it's cool to put hate on them and act like they are better off without them. It makes no sense. They want to be look feminine but act feminist, attract men and hate them all at the same time.

Women wear pink for women and dress sexy for women. You are christian, I know you enjoy your time with Women in your congregation. Women together are spiritually strong and beautiful. We allow men in our world when they earn entry, and I'm not referring to gay men, it's men. In reality only 20% of Men would be allowed in the world of women. The other 80% would be allowed to procreate when needed. It's all love not equality.

I’m a woman and I never played with Barbie’s because that wasn’t allowed in my home. It was too feminist. But I watched the movie to review it and it wasn’t even bad compared to the worlds standards. People usually watch a lot of junk! It wasn’t that much different than legally blonde. As a Christian , I find it interesting how hypocritical the world is. They call some things bad and some things that are bad in Gods sight good because some ppl think it’s cool. Majority of the ppl who bash it watch porn and continue to support it. People need to start being consistent.

as a long time Barbie fan, the misandry in the film and how it pits men against women has NEVER been part of what Barbie has stood for. The way the film hates on motherhood was also seriously despicable. I was looking forward to a fun chick flick in this film but was extremely disappointed to see how Barbie’s legacy of upholding both women and men was ripped to shreds. On the bright side, whoever made the thumbnail for this video needs a raise it’s HILARIOUS !!

That is interesting that you feel Barbie is a wholesome toy! I wasn't allowed to have one until I had almost outgrown dolls. My mom felt the dolls were too "developed" for girls' play. Most of the doll's were/are all about sexy, airheaded women. I had Skipper and Skooter. The story that came with some of the paraphernalia was so materialistic that I recognized it even as a kid. It was all part of the push for Feminism. Not a good role-model for children!

The maker of Barbie the Mattel doll named the doll after her daughter. She was the only woman amongst all men, I’m old enough to remember the original doll and her friend Midge, Skipper the lil sis. Here is the group text thread from a few of my siblings and one of their spouses from Friday (“opening day” 😩): Sister #1: Drop everything you’re doing and go see “Barbie” Husband of S#1: 💪🐎🛼 “Kendom Rules” Sister #2: Barbie was so good saw it with mom today, we held hands and cried. So deep. Husband of S#1 again: L**** laughed and cried all the way through. We will see it again. I’m heartbroken for them. They are all extreme left wing SF Bay Area wokesters who hate and reject God and who have mocked and scoffed at my faith in Christ for decades, even going so far as to “voluntold” me to never speak of my beliefs in front of them. The one that I used to be closest to once angrily insisted that I never so much as pray for her. The other has gotten physically violent with me for gifting her with Lee Strobel’s book, “The Case for Christ” They are actually terrifying in their anti Christ fervor and yet my husband and I are possibly the only Bible most of them will ever read. They all had such a wonderful time at my daughters wedding last month that they’ve planned a Labor Day weekend reunion at sister #1’s property 11 hours north of where we live. We agreed to go, but now they’re taking a full on leftist propaganda movie to the extremes I have come to expect from them and I’m reconsidering my “yes” reply to the invitation (over a movie about Barbie-yikes). Please pray for me for wisdom, guidance and the fruit of the Spirit-especially love and self control in my decision and conduct.

@@enki354 the concept of Barbie is for little girls….Barbie has a car, a house, a pool and lots of clothes. It’s for play. Ken, Skipper, Midge, Allan--all for play. But it all takes place in “Barbie-Land” a place where little girls play with dolls. It’s not the real world. Later decades saw Barbie become an ADVENTURER, a DOCTOR, a PILOT an OLYMPIAN..all kinds of occupations. This is not negative. Keep in mind Ken is there to accompany Barbie in Barbie-Land because it’s all about Barbie…the little girl’s toy. This movie is a allegory…it’s funny and it’s not derogatory to men. Many men saw the humor. It’s disheartening some people can’t see it’s about Barbie-land and Barbie’s journey to the real world where she wants to grow up and she wants Ken to find himself too. I am in the parking lot of the movie theater waiting for my 14 year old daughter. A group of girlfriend's moms organized the Barbie day. I let my daughter go because another mom had purchased the tickets in advance and also, my daughter doesn't swallow the brainwashing. Still wish I had said "No." She text me from the theater " Like how is this so political? Like really, it's like unbelievable. " We like have to work on her using like... like so much. Like I'm so happy she is like ... wise. No like her mom who let her go. Thanks Becket! ❤

Becket, You described the movie to a T. Throughout the film I felt almost disoriented.... and until listening to your overview I wasn’t exactly clear why. I am the mother four grown children the grandmother of two and I’ve never been a feminist.... My father was in the Marine Corps, and instilled in me, that I could do anything I wanted and that I was responsible for all of my choices . I have felt empowered as a woman. And raised 2 boys & 2 girls the same. ... No victims here.... 🙏 Thank You Becket...! God’s Blessings Always.

This video finally motivated me to speak up about the movie since I told people I was excited for it and dressed up for the movie not knowing how political it was going to be. this is what I shared on my social media: In light of the Barbie movie and where I don't agree with it. I fully believe, that: 1. Men are worthy of respect, they are awesome and smart, not the bad guys or losers 2. Motherhood and children are a blessing 3. God has given the man in a family the responsibility to lead. NOTE: to be a leader that sacrifices himself fully for the sake of those he leads. God has not given men a right to lead in this selfish and oppressive manner (the only type of men leadership showed in this movie) 4. It is not right to manipulate people or men even for a good cause 5. Men also have it hard. Life in this world is hard for everyone. It is not good to victimise ourselves or blame a certain people group (eg. men) for our hardships. 6. Women have such a good position in society today. We are not meant to get more rights by pushing men down, using manipulation tactics or violence. 7. Women can also desire power for the wrong reasons and use that power irresponsibly 8. Rebellion against authorities God has put in place for us to respect (parents, society and laws, husband etc.) will result in brokenness, even if these authority figures are imperfect.

As I said above, *"How do you know about a god?"* *"I read my Bible it has more wisdom in it than any book ever written."* I highly doubt that. In fact, it has pretty much what you could expect ancient men to be thinking, some good and some bad. There are plenty of books with various kinds of wisdom, and many are more modern. *"That's how I know."* So let me get this straight; you "know" there is a "god" because ancient men said so? Sorry, but that isn't going to get you a Nobel Prize. *"Don't respond if you haven't read it from Genesis -Revelation"* Why?! Can you tell me anything in there that is somehow special? Great and informative! Agree with almost all of it. My disappointment comes re: reasons for divorce. I was in an abusive marriage (domestic and verbal), pornography addiction all while being a “model Christian” everywhere except at home. Separated once, had some help, claimed to be clean. After 38yrs discovered more pronography and then found out he never stopped. Covenant Eyes did a survey that 80% of Christian guys are into pornography💔💔. If the church would address this with its leaders first (as 40% of leaders are also guilty) then deal with the men, I believe 80% of marriages would be saved. I was faithful for 38yrs, yet I am being told I have not upheld my vows. This is evil! Men need to become men and leaders and cherish their wives more than sex objects!! The church NEEDS TO STEP UP IN THIS DEPARTMENT.

Also, I won’t see this movie because it’s a vulgar cringefest, but other conservatives/ Christians have said the negative reaction to this movie with regards to its politics is way overblown. And of course it is because any press is good press; and the makers of this movie are now rolling in the dough whereas I think less people would’ve been interested in it if there wasn’t so much controversy.

That's a secular and clichéd viewpoint. Why don't you trust the Word of GOD over society's clichés?? The Apostle Paul says "if you can, be like me" (i.e SINGLE without kids) in the context of discussing marriage. Jesus, Paul, probably most of the other disciples and likely Mary Magdalene were all single. To even suggest that worldly view of singleness disparages Jesus and disparages Paul. I saw the movie last night! I’m 63 and adored Barbie as a little girl. I didn’t really know what to expect and figured there would be much man bashing and woke agenda because it is Hollywood afterall! I left the theater feeling rather perplexed. I reallly wanted to love the movie but instead felt confused and very disappointed. As Beckett says, the movie is all over the place with no real plot and definitely gives no value for men. This may seem silly to say and perhaps a bit extreme but I feel my love for Barbie has been tainted! Making a movie about an iconic childhood toy had so much potential, but for me, was a huge let down instead!🧐😳😩

@@debbiegum2226 That wasn't even accurate. I was 13 when Barbie came out so I was getting out of doll phase. I had a doll called Jill. She was made by Madame Alexander to be the "big sister" to Ginny who was a little girl doll with a fashion sense. Jill, unlike Barbie looked like a normal woman with normal features and proportions. I guess she wasn't as hyped as Barbie so maybe not exactly "mass marketed" but still available wherever nice dolls were sold. I always found Barbie repulsive and vulgar and had I been younger, I wouldn't have wanted one anyway. Also, I'm fairly dark and I didn't like dolls in general because they promoted blondeness as the ideal. My Jill and Ginny dolls were also dark haired. When my daughter was little, Sonny and Cher were still mostly wholesome, against drugs, pro family so while I refused to buy her a Barbie, she got a Cher.

So, Barbie spends all her time going back to speak to this person from the past who mishandled her or what-the-heck-ever, BUT the movie starts off with little girls bashing babydolls' heads????? Your comment on “toxic femininity” is spot on and I, as a woman, *hate* it. I actually had a friend make a comment to me about “typical white male” and I snapped at her over it because I know so many good men who don’t deserve such a condescending label. And this is a Christian friend who said it! This mindset is definitely invading the church and I combat it wherever possible

I had to laugh when I found out how they were marketing Barbie. When I was younger, I bought a Barbie doll for a daughter of a friend of mine (female attorney). She would not let me give that stupid doll to her little girl because she considered Barbie to be a symbol of “oppressed women” because she was nothing more than a sexy doll in a bathing suit with beautiful clothes and makeup. 😂😂. And now all of a sudden she is a symbol of women’s rights 😂😂.

I played with Barbies as a little girl. Several Christian women I know loved the Barbie movie and others want to go see it. Sorry, even a lot of Christian women think with emotions. I read the reviews by two non-Christian men. Their first paragraph included a movie description as a “flaming bag of…” I’m going to run with the men on this. I believe the apparently man hating feminist (per the clips I saw) who put this drivel together, is now involved in a “Chronicles of Narnia” Netflix project with a refreshing non religious take. When I worked in a legal office, there were more female lawyers than men. There was no patriarchy. The present matriarchy is toxic. The only toxic males seem to be the ones encroaching on women’s sports, beauty pageants, prisons, gyms and bathrooms.

@@chikkipopBelief in God is actually more about logic than emotion because it comes down to worldview. The Biblical worldview upholds the value of men and women as equal but uniquely suited for different roles. I'm only 28 and I cannot believe how dark society has become just in a decade. People are brainwashed with destructive lies on a daily basis. I do love knowing that nothing is truly hopeless with Christ. I was deep into this culture as a teenager, identifying as agnostic and LGBT. Jesus can save anyone. We just need to see how wretched our sins are and that we truly need God to save us. If only more people knew how good Jesus is. I cannot imagine living in this world now without Him.

I love your thumbnail. 😂 So funny. I can hear you (becket) saying, “ I want an hour and 55 minutes of my life back.” 😂 I was never a Barbie girl. I couldn’t stand Barbies. I loved dolls as a little girl but Barbie looked weird to me. When I saw this movie coming out I just was like 🤦🏻‍♀️. Barbie always represented someone ditzy. A ditzy woman. God made us women to be strong but the world has twisted the definition of what a “strong women “ looks like. Submission to our husbands is not weakness it’s strength. God’s design is perfect. Our beautiful sweet, loving nurturing behavior is being tainted in the world. Our world is exchanging the truth for a lie. We are beaconing the coming of Christ.

As a woman, I can attest that I never played with my barbies pretending they were supreme court justices. 😂 Sorry feminism. Barbie has always represented the vapid privileged girl who has everything she wants. And this movie seems to be an homage to that. That is the epitome of narcissism. I haven’t seen the movie, but from what Ive heard in the interviews or critics reviews, this movie is a lot more sinister than just that. Seems like Barbie is all about how females should completely dominate males in everything. This makes me sad for little girls growing up basically being taught to be narcissistic relentless bullies.

I then exited to see a bunch of little girls going in to see the film and felt anxious knowing they were in for a surprise as they were the age that still played with baby dolls domd of them so I don't know how they would respond d to the little girls smashing dolls they had . It just seemed like it mushed the mark for the audience and target market young girls and nostalgic adult fans.
