Getting ready to do my own brakes and ran across your channel for the first time. Two reasons I subscribed, straight forward and to the point. Non of the flashy extra crap so many others have. And two, the fact that you carry an Opinel is just icing on the cake.

We all do things differently but here is something that one may run into. Fluid can get pushed out of the reservoir. If you "topped" off fluid as the brakes wore when you push the pistons back in it may over flow. Brake Fluid DOT 4 will eat paint, and "stain" clear coat pretty quick. A water soaked towel nearby is always a good thing to have. The quicker you remove it the less issue it will have. Brake clean can make matters worse. Wipe it off with the wet towel and most times its will be OK. The other thing is to remove some fluid before you start. Brake pad break in or seating or burnishing is a whole long topic but in short no hard stops for the first several miles. There is a proper procedure and some pads came with directions. Basic is get up to about 40MPH and take 10 seconds to stop, 30 times in a row. This is one of the many that I have heard over the years. Yogi do a follow up on how you like them, if you feel a difference, and a long term how long they last. HD wants around $70-90 each caliper. I installed Lyndall pads on my V Rod and noticed a difference over the HD Brembo pads. I paid $40 a caliper for them.

Thanks Yogi! I will change my pads soon so this video will help. I just got a new battery, do you have any videos on the best ways to take care the battery? Thanks
@YogisCycleService3 жыл бұрын
No just keep it on a battery tender if you go a few days between rides. Makes most difference when it’s real hot or real cold. Make sure it’s a tender with a auto shut off and not just a constant charge

hey great channel i have aq 2014 Ultra Limited and what I thought was a warped rotor turned out to be scratched and I wanted to ask if you have a video on replacing the rear rotor and pads I have done some things maintenance and some repairs but I am concerned with the idea of taking out the axel and getting things aligned and straight and tight as required so should I attempt this or should I find a shop that works on Harleys because the dealership wants 750 to do this just don't have that one around right now any advice would be great thanks a lot

How where the breaks did they hold up to your standards? Because i'm about to be doing my breaks and thinking of ordering them on amazon just like you did.Or do you think I should go with JP parts for 35 a pop

@@RavioliToes iMO go with J&P. Those brakes were noisy and dusty and I couldn’t wait to swap them out. Yeah didn’t like them

Hey yogi, for using the brake cleaner, why use the non chlorinated vs chlorinated ? .. is there a reason ?
@YogisCycleService Жыл бұрын
Good question. I would have to watch that video again to hear my memories of what I said. I think I had that on hand because it’s what I use to clean gun barrels also if I were to guess. Off topic but yeah.

Did you have to take the rear? wheel off or the caliper just comes out after taken bolts off
@YogisCycleService2 жыл бұрын
You can take just the caliper off.
@googletesla87862 жыл бұрын
@@YogisCycleService I loosen the two bolts but the caliper is hitting the wheel and it won't just slide out of there,I got 10 ultra limited

Got a ? I put the lower blocks on my bike they go all the way to 3 inches r they safe I love the way my bike looks now an the ride is a little differents but just wondering about them braking what u think
@YogisCycleService3 жыл бұрын
That I can’t answer but I will say this. I had my Fatboy lowered 1 1/2” and when those shocks wore out the belt started to rub my starter shaft and had I not caught it would have broken the drive belt. Sometimes it isn’t the shocks I worry about but what other things are effected by lowering past what it was engineered to do.

No blue loctite on that pin bolt?
@YogisCycleService3 жыл бұрын
No. I thought about it but with how hard it was to crack that pin to get it out I didn’t think I needed anything to keep it in and make it harder to crack open in the next 20,000 miles
@HellfighterPreacherman3 жыл бұрын
there should be a keeper on the inside of the pin bolt. No need for locktite.

@@HellfighterPreacherman yes I thought about that after my comment. That was the little cotter like pin I forgot to put on twice until after I had the caliper bolted back on
