I boxed for years, let me say that while there were tons of amateur mistakes (dropping your hands, leaving yourself open, not properly popping punches, not tying to avoid punches, standing square instead of showing your side and son on) You committed to the punches and showed heart which carried you through. For six weeks? It was a very very good performance. Six weeks is insanely short! well done

Don't start with "as a." That first slip by Herrera was solid gold. Great counters. Orthodox? No. Solid form? Yes. His obscure angles helped him get inside. At no point would dancing like a pansy help him in any way. Breath issues force energy conservation anyway. Neither of these boys are pros. One, definitely, looked less practiced than the other. Not an uppercut to be found, which may have helped the tall one a bit, but I doubt he would execute anywhere close to properly. Bottom line is they both stepped up and did the dance. Honor to both.

In my first kickboxing fight I experienced the loss of motor skills due to stress. All I could do was jab and right low kick. Whenever my corner screamed to switch it up, I got clocked by counters as my right hand was too slow. So the jab+low kick carried me to victory. It opened my eyes to stress induced loss of skill during gun use. You do really default to what you're most trained for, and the rest comes out sloppy. Took me 8 fights to get rid of this effect.

Just like any sport, I think this reveals the importance of training and spars. All the stress, nerves and adrenaline running through the body makes it easy to forget form. The pros make it looks so easy, sheesh. Hats off to both these guys for going at it.

Let's go Brandon! Let's go! I do like the Rocky Reference that's pretty nice. Also well done sir keeping your head down. And the fact you're going through despite the first round panic, you're someone to look up to that's for sure. Also heard the commenters and at least one of their gun references. Keep it up man you're an inspiration always have been but this has been awesome. Second edit, that win, that training, and James, hearing about what he did, absolute legend. Should have him your coaches his coaches around for a range day and see about having a bit of a competition on hits scored, a bit of fun, nothing overly competitive

Coming back to this after the Might Mouse Unsub episode and binging a bunch of fighting, but I just now realized that Jonathan Coachman and Todd Grisham are the commentators. As a long time WWE fan, that's pretty awesome. The Coach interviewing Brandon like he did for so many years with The Rock would've been pretty awesome.

I experienced the same thing my first fight and I trained for 6 months before I fought. Nothing can prepare you for what it’s like stepping in a ring in front of a cpl thousand people and all your friends and family out there. The best way I can explain the first round, is like fighting in a gravitron, everything around you is spinning. Training takes over and you get tunnel vision. The same happened to me where I was breathing way too fast in between the first and second round, not to mention my first boxing match was against an amateur mma fighter who was 8-2 and a south paw, which I didn’t train for at all. Me and one other guy were the only two to come home with a win on the red team, it was like everyone on the red team was supposed to lose. My teammate who won fought a guy who was 26-4 and he was only 3-0. You did great dude, be proud of yourself.

Big props to both of you. The professionalism both in, and out of the ring was immaculate. Brandon, for having 6 weeks to train, you did awesome for it man. James, who only had a few days to really try to learn how to box, did awesome as well. He truly should've used his height and reach superiority a little more than he did, but props to both of y'all.

I'm an amatuer boxer myself. Though I haven't been in the ring for over a year. But this fight... I've fought people less skilled that you two were in that ring. Amazing fight and you earned that victory with your great strategy Brandon. Those bodyshots during the second round is what gave you that knockout win. Do not understimate those center of mass hits. That quite literally knocks the wind out of people. Makes their legs give in, makes their arms go heavy.

This was pretty cool dude, it must have been one hell of an experience for you. I think some people will fail to realize, as a first time experiencing anything like this. Just how intimidating it was with the hype, the crowd & especially all the cameras. When you started your walk down to the ring, I bet your brain set your adrenaline rush to maximum dump capacity...lol. It may have played a part in your panic attack because adrenaline definitely gets the heart pumping. Big time respect on how humble you are.
