ADJ myDMX 3 | 3D Visualizer Quick Start

This is awesome! I am on a super tight budget as a solo musician, and I have been looking at all of my options for lighting, and have decided to go the DIY LED tube light route. My plan is to have 8 of these 1 meter DIY LED tubes hooked up to a DMX decoder, then I'm planning on getting 4 Par 64s with a 4 channel dmx dimmer, that will be used as back and side lighting. My issue is not having a lighting Tech, and I don't really want to put some party lights on a "Sound" setting or a "Pre-Programmed" chase setting, as I've seen so many other solo acts or groups use. So my plan is to use Ableton Live to send command triggers to myDMX 3.0 and have pre-programmed sequences in the software. So having the 3D Visualizer would allow me to easily program each song with unique looks.

I am finding that I have the perfect world. The practice room with all the lights set up in it gives me the ability to set up the real lights in the room and tweek them as needed. Not bragging, just realized watching this that I have the real world ability to do the visualizing right in the music room.

I have patched in 4 ADJ Megabar rgba's. They are blacked out in the software, but are showing green in the visualizer. Do you know whats wrong?

What if I have fixtures on the floor pointing upwards? How do I change the visualizer to reflect uplighting?

Great vid, thank you. Is there away with my DMX 3.0 to actually make a "Mirror" image for moving heads? For example you have your two movers there one on the left and one on the right. What I would like them to do is to mirror each of them, so they both come from the sides into the middle, rather than both moving in the same direction.

Cotswold DJiamWill yes. Towards the end of the video I mention inverting the pan and tilt. This will allow for a mirror image. Note: you have to invert the pan and tilt on your moving head as well as in the 3d visualizer.

By inverting on the heads as well as 3.0, will this make sure the heads are both the same way up? As in; they can sometimes be facing the same direction but can be out due to the difference in axis on the fixture. Resulting in the beams being at slightly different levels. Does that make sense?!

Yeah sold! I was on the fence about DMX for my lights because I like my basic sound active... Any way to plug into my dj controller midi in or out for BPM sync?

Bremflux thank you for checking it out, Im not sure if you can. The software can use the built in mic to detect bpm. Or you can tap the bpm.

Hi, we’re a (Fleetwood Mac tribute) band, and have a LOT of lights, lasers, moving heads and fx, and a 15’ high stage rig ‘ring’ with 32x rgb led lights on board. Is there a way of superimposing a photo of the stage on the background in some way please?

Hey, do know why the beams might not appear when programming in the visualizer? Shutters and beams are on in the software but lights wont respond to scene selections in the visualizer. Any suggestions?

I've really found your series to be profoundly helpful. I'm more of a visual learner than reading a vague manual that may or may not pertain to my situation. That being said, maybe I'm the odd duck here, but I have lots of the same kind of lights but several different types of lights. For example, I have 9 moving head washes, and 10 beams. I split this up and address the washes to just 4 channels, and the beams to 5. (Basically two fixtures per address.) is there a way to represent this in visualizer so my 3D stage can more accurately represent my real life application? It makes my 3D visualizer look asymmetrical. Thanks so much! Btw I have the full version of 3.0

Wow, amazing video! I have a question, I bought My DMX 2.0 long time ago and is still in the box like the day I bought it. I use my lights the lazy way, (Pre shows in the system). Now I see all this amazing videos about controlling the light with these controllers and I want to get back and learn about them. So the question that I have, do you know if I can upgrade my dmx 2.0 with the new version of 3.0 or I need to buy the new interface. Thank you

It is not "Fake" but yet the software is similar and it is QCd in the US with US customer support.
