The people made this market, they were smiling and looked friendly!

Thank you for this video! It is so encouraging to hear about nice people in different parts of the world. We would like to add Bratislava to our Christmas market tour next year and you have helped instill confidence about our decision to do this!!

Hi Gary! That's great to hear! Bratislava is worth a visit and I'm sure you'll enjoy it, as we did. We made other videos about the city if you're interested to explore beyond the Christmas market too (they're here: bit.ly/SlovakiaPlaylist). Curious where else is on your Christmas market tour?

Understanding better with each 'delicious" vlog why the Christmas markets are so popular. Love the way you interact with the people too. Two coats eh? Hope they kept you warm!

They did keep me warm, thank you! My feet need two pairs of boots next ;) Or just one pair of good boots like I'd wear in Canada haha. We met a lot of lovely people at the Christmas Market in Bratislava!

Can you guess what award we gave to Bratislava?? Here's the video: bit.ly/2HyQ6Dk And if you love Christmas markets as much as we do, here is the playlist of ALL the videos about Christmas markets in Europe: bit.ly/christmasmarketplaylist I can't wait to go to more...! 🥰

Time 3:31 "Bratislavský rožok" "Pressburger Roll" is a traditional sweet pastry. Its story began in the late 16th century, when the first records of the sale of pastries filled with poppy or nuts appeared from the former Pressburg. The first written reference to the roll came in 1876, when the city newspaper published an article about excellent rolls. The "Bratislavské rožky" (preßburger roll) must be prepared by hand. The filling may be either poppy or nuts, and must be at least 40% of the weight of the product. The pastry roll with poppy filling should be in the shape of a horseshoe and the nut filled roll in the shape of the letter “C”. The surface of the rolls must be glossy and marbled. Rolls with the letter "U" are filled with poppy seeds. A very pleasant snack, excellent with presso coffee or cappuccino ☕ This product is made only in our city and is a protected traditional brand.

My cousin had a punch stand open there but it most likely wasn't the one you got your punch at as I don't remember him serving the one called "Snow Punch".
@EileenAldis6 жыл бұрын
That'd be so funny if it was the same one. I wonder if I talked to him there. Do you see his stand in the video?

The liver loksa is really good! The one you chose has nothing to do with Slovakia and 90 percent of Slovakian probably never tried it.

Hi Marek, I wasn't personally interested in the liver one but I know it's popular. I quite enjoyed the cheese flavour.

@EileenAldis7 жыл бұрын
Oh yeah? We haven't found that at all! We've seen them in not just Slovakia but also Hungary, Czech Republic, Austria, and Poland. Not just at the Christmas Markets but in actual shops as well and they seem really popular with everyone. Tourists, of course, but locals too :)
@fjellyo32617 жыл бұрын
Eileen Aldis yes they sell them in Prague but some local told me it's just a thing for tourist and locals don't buy it^^. But idk maybe he just spoke for himself ;)

Nah, trdelnik is pretty traditional food. But you are right that it is popular among tourists. There definitely are places that cater to them while natives wouldn't take a bite (speaking from experience) but overall everybody eats it, mainly during festivals or attractions with food stands.
