I started to learn Portuguese a month ago - I've been fascinated by Portugal for about four years now and have wanted to learn it for ages! I'm English and I speak French and Italian so there's definitely a lot of similarities. I watched this video with Portuguese subtitles and I could understand so much of what you said and could hear the differences in accent :) I am learning Portugal Portuguese at the moment because my love of Portugal is why I started to learn. Wow! Such an amazing video! Such an inspiration the way you can speak both accents so well! I went to Brazil on an intercambio many years ago now but the warmth, love and kindness I experienced from Brazilians I am so grateful for and I will never forget. I haven't been well enough to travel back in recent years so Portugal is much managable option for me but I'm finding it a real 'desafio' to Achieve the accent and learn all the different words and expressions but I love your channel because it keeps me inspired to keep working on it x

I hope you're feeling better now. When the pandemic is over, just go to Portugal, if you can. Don't worry about not souding like the Portuguese. I'm Brazilian and I don't try it. Just enjoy the country and its lovely people. Good luck!

kala boka gringo kakakak But really now, you don't have to learn our accent. There are many PT-BR accents, pretty much every country has a slight variation. If you speak calmly in portuguese people will most certainly understand you, even if you have a very heavy indian tech support scammer accent.

Existe uma variante de sotaques que os gringos só perceberão a partir do processo ao qual se habitua com nosso português. É igual o sotaque português, existem diversos, mas na nossa pré concepção é homogêneo.

I just love the subtle complexity of the European pronunciation... the consonants feel like a beautiful puzzle that just folds together so nicely. The open vowels of Brazilian Portuguese are lovely and festive, but for me it’s the people of Portugal that feel so unfazed by anything, super chill lifestyle and the subtlety of the language 💗

É exactamente isso que aconteceu comigo! Eu sou español, então quando comecei a aprender português quis conseguer un perfeito sotaque de Portugal, pela proximidade entre os dois paises, mas depois a bossa nova entrou na minha vida e não me resisti ao sotaque brasileiro. No entanto, eu vou muito de ferias a Portugal e é-me mais natural falar com as pessoas na variante portuguesa, mas se eu me encontrasse com alguém do Brasil tentar-lhe-ia falar num dialeto mas apertado ao seu. Finalmente acabei conhecendo as duas variantes e vou trocando entre uma e outra. A magia das línguas : ))

If you learn BrPt you can only understand Brazilians; if you learn Pt you can adapt to BrPt and speak the standard for Angola, Cape Verde, Macau, Mozambique, Portugal, Sao Tome and Principe, Timor, etc...

Ola! Your switch from Brazilian Portuguese to European Portuguese is so smooth! I'm moving to Lisbon in a few months and trying to learn basic Portuguese. I went to Portugal first but never spoke Portuguese as most spoke in English. Then I went to Brazil and had to learn Brazilian Portuguese quickly as locals hardly speak English. And because of that, I keep using Brazilian Portuguese in Portugal. Do Lisbonians mind that? I think I'll eventually switch to European Portuguese but it will take some time.

Of course not, you will be understood. There are lots of Brazilians living here, so the two live side by side. You will probably end up with a bit of a mixed accent, like I have!

I’m a Brazilian living in the US for 33 years (hopefully Portugal will be my next home soon) and this video is absolutely great. You switch the Brazilian and Portuguese accents with so much facility, not even I could do that.

Having visited Brazil, I thought the Brazilian variant would be more suitable for me. There are aspects of both variants I like and dont like. I like Brazilian because the syllables are all pronounced but I prefer portugal for its ending like. de or te like saudade or gente.

A pronúncia do "S" do Português de Portugal é igual a do sotaque do carioca, RJ.

Sou americano e eu comecei aprender português em dezembro passado porque eu tinha uma namorada paulista quem era uma au pair aqui nos EUA. Nós tivemos terminar em abril porque o distante depois que ela tive voltar ao Brasil (somos ainda amigos!). Mas eu tinha aprendido tanto português que eu não vi razão parar! É uma língua muito bonita e gosto de aprender as diferenças entre brasileiro e europeu português! (Também, desculpe se meu português é lixo kkkk) Amo seus vídeos! 😁
