Now that I've seen many reactions to this episode, I realize that maybe Victor started to cook not to show Walt and Jessie he could do it, but to show Mike. BC, Victor figure out his life would be in danger when Gus was told he was seen at Gale's apt.

Jesse was trying to push his emotions down during that dinner scene. When he shot Gale it almost broke him. Walt cared less about Gale dying and more about how it affected Jesse. Walt only really cares about his family,himself and Jesse in that order.
