5 years in and he's been able to consistently add both weight and reps every session? I'm shocking he only just now hit a plateau

I apreciate your work and i learned a lot from your videos. I would like to ask a question if possible. In your workouts, how do you use failure? And how would you recommend someone use it? Love you work! A hug from a bug fan from Brazil!

Hey Jeff, how much load do you decrease on the back off sets? And what load % do you use for the top set? Thanks for the quality content as always team 3DMJ!
@jeffalberts79687 ай бұрын
You’re welcome. I drop ~10-20% for the back off sets. The top set I don’t base it on %’s, but rather by how well or not so well the previous session went. If I feel confident I can add load while maintaining my target rep range, it’s typically 2.5 lbs to 10 lb jump depending on the exercise.

IS IT normal that i dont get a huge midback Pump?(Traps rhomboids etc)? But i Progress in exercise which involved this muscles
@julenlabirua65697 ай бұрын
Yeah, it is perfectly normal, because the pump doesn't correlate to stimulus. There are a lot of variables that afect the pump that either don't afect the training stimulus or that negatively afect the stimulus. The pump isn't very important for growth. You can get huge without getting a pump

Pump doesn’t mean progress necessarily. Are you progressing in muscle development in those areas?

Question to Jeff, do you think this top Back Off Thing which you doing, have let you build Some muscle? And If have you an explanation why?
@jeffalberts79687 ай бұрын
It’s not a thing, it’s legit just like powerlifting. There are plenty pretty jacked powerlifters walking the planet. We know in the research, ~5-30 reps will yield hypertrophy as long as we hit appropriate proximity to failure. Personally, my top set is ~4-7 reps @ 2-4 rir, so of course the loading is heavier and will gather plenty of muscle fiber to move the load. Long term, if for example my current top set is 100 lbs and my back off sets are 80 lbs, but in 3 months the top set is 130 lbs and back offs are 110 lbs (now more load than prior top set being moved across multiple sets) that’s a significant increase in volume and mechanical tension.
