So the portal is still open, and the Illinois State Police say that you can still register your "illegal" items. Problem: Law enforcement does not make or amend laws, only congress can do that. So by registering after the deadline, people would still be in violation of the law, and the late registration serves as self incrimination. It's a trap! They will need to make an example out of those people to "prove" the law is working.

Unconstitutional law passed - many sheriffs offices said they wouldn't enforce because it is an unconstitutional order and as law enforcement they are sworn to protect the constitution in its entirety. Deadline passes and only 1% of the foid holders out there complied. Seems to me the ISP are finally waking up ND realizing that they can't enforce it and attempting to do so would have catastrophic consequences

Colorado was similar with "high capacity magazines." The police not only refused to enforce it, but you'd even see them at guns shows shopping around for themselves. I've even seen them set up their own booth with a sign that read "we're here to protect your gun rights. Not enforce dumb laws."

I am seeing and hearing of a groundswell of civil disobedience in CA as well. I think Bruen decision on CCW, SB2 being defeated for now, the std. capacity mag ban about to be overturned and a few other things have really gotten people thinking. These laws are unconstitutional and it my duty to disobey these tyrannical laws. As can be expected, the pendulum is swinging back in the other direction.

ILLANNOY resident here... correction on info in this video. The Illinois State Police WILL charge those they catch with banned items. What they said they won't prosecute are those that register after the Jan 1st deadline. They are trying to coax more to register. There is a fear that if one were to register AFTER the Jan 1st deadline that's codified in the law that they would then be targeted by the state because they essentially just admitted they have a banned item so the state police is saying they won't prosecute anyone that registers now (post deadline) but don't be fooled..the henchman and brownshirts under Pigster WILL arrest and prosecute anyone found to be in non compliance if caught with an unregistered banned item.
