We adopted an Amercian Foxhound from our local shelter in October. She's a trained hunting dog. She was hunted until she developed a sore elbow joint from being housed in a bare cement kennel. Then the vet said it looked like she'd been bred every 10-12 weeks until she was unable to breed again. Then she was abandoned. She'd never been in a house before. Now, she's a giant lap dog. She's 7-8 years old, and is enjoying her retirement. Whomever used, abused, and discarded her was an outright idiot. She is the calmest, sweetest dog I've ever had - around other dogs, cats, toddlers, or strangers. Completely calm.

I can relate to Jimmy. I had a cat exactly like him. Dominick. He was nasty out of fear. No one saw his sweet side but me. He learned how to walk on a leash. He loved going to the park & on vacation at the beach. My vet told me he’d never seen such a nasty cat. He needed to be wrapped in a towel during his visit. He lived 19 years. Funny thing is, while on vacation he was as sweet as ever. Even strangers & children could pet him. And yes, I have a few scars to remember him. Funny fact: I had the same surgery Jimmy had on both my knees in 1996.

We had a dog like cookie at our shelter in Florida. I use to work at a shelter where one day we got a pregnant female husky in. The animal services next to us found the absolute shitbag of an owner but because we were going to fix her he did not want her because she ' would not make him anymore money' because he breed her heat after heat just to sell her puppies for money. She was often found running the streets so half of her litters were from random other dogs. This dog was very underweight, 9 years old, had an enlarged heart, and was blind plus had an upper respiratory infection. She had her final litter with us and she was fixed about a month and a half later. We sat there with her at 4 in the morning delivering the puppies in which all of the lived. Sadly about 4 months after her spay her heart gave out and she was put to sleep with everyone surrounding her so she was not alone.

My parent's 2yo cat got progressively nastier a few weeks after a new kitten was brought into the house, and we thought it was just the reaction to having to share space with a growing young cat. Then she could barely move without growling and we took her to the vet for treatment, and she had a deadly bloodborne protozoan parasite that's along from bobcats through ticks! After a week of treatment she's back to her normal self - normal levels of bratty and no longer in pain. Always check for a medical reason for behavioral problems or sudden behavioral changes!

I feel so bad for the English Bulldogs. They have become all the rage because of social media and too many people thought they just had to have one. This is one breed that a person needs to research to the max. It takes a very dedicated owner to raise one properly and it also takes an owner that has the financial ability to keep up with the many potential health problems. I adopted a six yr old neutered male who thankfully came through a friend of a friend and he was taken care of quite well and socialized well also. But still, in the little over a year he has been with me, we have been to our vet on average every eight weeks from chronic ear infections, to stiff joints, to allergies etc. He is 87 lbs but according to the vet he is NOT overweight for his skeletal structure. He is just BIG period. We measure carefully all his food intake and do not give ANY caloric treats and we do take him for a walk at least four times a week even though he is not into it. Now we have a new Boston Terrier puppy in the house, they like to play and we are seeing a whole new side to Otto the Bulldog. He is getting as much exercise as possible and having fun also with the pup. We we hesitant at first because of Otto's size around the pup but it has worked out very well. They love each other and Otto's true personality has emerged and he is visibly happier. So, Bulldogs are NOT for just any one, please think carefully before deciding to own one of these gentle giants.

Too few people do the breed research, they think that choosing a dog is a matter of aesthetics, when it is so far from being that. Bless you, bless Otto, and bless your whole family, it brings me joy to hear of every family that does it right.
@addyshorhnr3544 Жыл бұрын
@@katbairwell I’d say in choosing a bred of dog you get you should chose the look of dog then HEAVILY research the bred and decide if it’s worth it. Most people buying purebreds are doing it for aesthetics anyway and so many Breda it would be very hard to narrow it down to good research before ruling out those that they just don’t find cute. Though I’ve never bought, if I was I’d definitely still do a type of Pitt dog I’ve never meet mix or otherwise that didn’t act like a himbo.
@AaaaNinja Жыл бұрын
Instead of asking people to "Do their research" I think it is even better to discourage people from having them at all. Because just owning one is a sign they did not do their research and they are justifying the breed merely by owning one.
@katbairwell Жыл бұрын
@@AaaaNinja I absolutely see where you're coming from, unfortunately many people fall in love with particular breeds as children, and simply recommending they choose another breed just doesn't work (unless they know you and respect your opinion). Ideally we need the various Kennel Clubs and breed societies to start advocating for improved breed health, over appearance, but this is a huge cultural shift and it will take time. Not least, the entire pedigree system will need an overhaul. The Olde English Bulldogge project started in the 1970s and the "new" breed is still awaiting acceptance in the various kennel clubs, which means breeders cannot be KC registered, which reduces their visibility to people searching for ethical breeders. It's a can of worms, and often feels an impossible task. By highlighting the medical concerns with compromised breeds, shows like Bondi Vet are doing incredible work. We will get there, but the finish lines is a long way off just yet.

I love your channel, and all of the love and care that you put into the many animals that y'all tend to. God bless you, from Kentucky, USA.

Valerie looks like a pitbull or pitbull adjacent.

@@unholyheretik Yes, but like my dog, her frame is too small to be a pitbull, and she is very tiny. Thanks for your comment.

At 26:41, they say she is a "Staffie cross". So a Staffordshire Bull Terrier mixed with something else.

I live in a rural area of Washington State and people drop their cats out here a lot and I know it's because we have a lot of fields for them to run, hunt, and have a better chance of surviving the problem is there's also extreme weather conditions and predators. I am not one to just watch and not try to help so right now we have 8, 5 of which were rescued since Sept. The last one was only about 5 weeks old and he showed up Christmas week temps hit -26°F a couple days later. A very pregnant momma kitty we call "Lady" showed up a couple weeks ago fairly wild I got her in a room downstairs and isolated away from everyone else 2 days ago she gave birth to 8 babies and so far she hasn't lost any. She's a very small petite cat so I worry that's an awful lot of babies for her but she is a great mom and seems to be doing just fine. I'm going to get some KMR and bottle next time we go to town just in case she ends up needing some help as they grow. We will find homes for the babies and hopefully the mom too.

Thank you for the wonderful new episode of Bondi Vet Coast to Coast 💞💯💞 I have been enjoying all the episodes that have been posted this season and I love them all 💞💯💞 So glad Dr Scott was able to go help with the dogs @All dogs matter in the UK Apolo was a gorgeous boy and I'm so happy that he was adopted and now he has a forever lifetime home with a family that will love him. I Love, Love, Cookie the little (extra chubby) bull dog 🥰😘🥰 They are one of my favorite breeds of dogs and she has gorgeous coloring 💗❣️💗 I'm so shocked 😲 by the weight of 78.6 pounds 😲😥 and you said that she had already lost some weight since she was brought to the rescue 😲😩😥😣 and that she was unable to walk when she arrived at the rescue 😲😥 in even worse shape than now😞😩😣😲😥 That is disgusting and criminal that anyone could do that to a sweet little animal that they have used to produce babies for them and then they just throw her away with the rest of their garbage and walk away 😩😠😡🤬 If it wasn't for the rescue groups like yours All Dogs Matter I don't know what would happen to all the animals that are in puppy mills and discarded when they are of no use any more, or people can't handle, feed, or anything else and decide to let them their pets go back for whatever reason if a rescue can't take them off they go to the shelter where they are going to be on the euthanasia list after a certain amount of time due to overcrowding and they have to be able to pass a rigorous amount of testing to qualify to be able to get adopted by a family. With a rescue there's time to work on a bad behavior and make it a good behavior 🥰 and a rescue can raise the money to get a surgery done if it is necessary for the animal to live a full quality life ❤️💯❤️ I'm so happy that the 3 dog's Dr Scott @Bondi Vet worked with were all adopted and found a new forever lifetime home with people who will Love them the way they always should have been loved 💖💜❤️🥰💕❤️🥰 Dr Kate Adams and her kitty Jimmy are so very very adorable to watch and they get me to giggling sometimes with their attitudes and conversations 🤭😆🤣😂😅🤭 well shall I say Dr Kate's conversation with Jimmy and his attitude with Dr Kate get me a giggling out loud 😂🤣😂🤣😆🤭😅😆🤭🤣😂 I'm so Very Very Happy 😁😊 that Jimmy is doing well and that he is trying to figure out how to make his legs work again 😸💕😸💕😸💕😸💕😸 Much love to you all from the USA 💕❤️🇺🇲💕🇺🇲💕🇺🇲❤️🇺🇲💕❤️🇺🇲💕❤️🇺🇲💕❤️🇺🇲

People who are cruel to the animals should be put behind the bars n make them pay the fine where it will hurt their pockets. I love 💕 animals n my tears just flowing out. May God punish these people not only them but their generations to come. Maureen Pearson New Zealand.

I’m so happy that there was a happy ending for all the animals!! Thank you to all the vets, rescuers and assistants for doing this line of work!!🤗🤗😍😍🥰🥰💗💗 Now, for people who were born without a heart and feel that doing this ( Mutilating them, dumping them because they’re sick and can’t breed anymore, or dump them because they’re not wanted anymore.) is ok, well, it’s not!! The bad you do always comes back to you. I just wish the punishment would suit the crime, because it’s a crime how these dogs are mistreated by the likes of you.

Kate’s Jimmy looks almost exactly like my cat Toby. Jimmy has the same black tear drop nose. Unfortunate my wife and I lost Toby due to a seizure that lasted for over an hour caused by a suspected brain tumor. Like Jimmy, Toby would fight you at the vets. Kindred spirits!😂

My dog was just in a surgery to remove a lump to have it be checked for cancer since it was on his eyelid and it was bothering him. So, I get the fear in 31:03. My dog is 10,5-years-old and anesthesia risks are high, so I was stressed the whole day, but now he is safely and happily home and so far there has been no signs of complications. Only issue is that his drinking and eating have been lacking, but I got his favorite wet food, which he happily eats and use the juices from wet food to make flavored water to get him to drink. Other than that he is feeling and acting normal. Vet told us to not take him out for long walks and he is devastated by that fact since he is a giant ball of energy.
