The NFL Today would never have been the Gold Standard without Irv. He was so talented in so many facets. Nobody had the players trust the way Irv did. RIP Mr. Cross.

Growing up watching this tandem, made every Sunday exciting. Brent, Irv and Phyllis were family, and you sensed it. The charisma, comraderie and knowledge combined were genuine. I remember a game at Metrpolitan stadium, in the mid '70s, when " The NFL Today" was on site; I think it was the NFC Championship, between the Vikings and the Cowboys ( who Phyllis just loved). Fans walked by them, on set and someone gave Phyllis a gift, and she acknowledged it. Those were the good days. No one will ever replace these folks. They should have a place in the NFL Hall of Fame, for contributions to the sport. As a longtime fan, they are missed on-air.
