I just bought the cerberus, I can’t save a different cabinet...when I turn off and then I turn on, it always come with the jc120....do I have to save it in a preset? Thanx for you video!

Hi again Brett, I ve another question. I m looking for a stomb with IR Loader. I hesitate between this Cerberus and the Amplifirebox that you also tested. I play prog metal, rock, etc... My opinion based only on videos I saw is that the Cerberus seems to sounds more lively while the Amplifirebox seems to be more precise but more cold too. Could you tell me your impressions ?

Thx Brett. Hey do you know if you select a preset, let's say you set one up with delay and vibe, and during a song you want to just switch off delay for a section when playing. Can you go into manual mode and switch off delay in that preset (so tone stays the same between preset and manual mode) , the Nova System if you are familiar with it works like that. Otherwise I guess you'd need to copy a preset to the next spot and save it with delay removed to keep the rest of the tone. Sorry. Hope I articulated that coherently.

Looks really impressive. Sorta seems like they dropped the ball not including an amp sim section like the Tech21 fly rig. If it had that, it would be a completely all-inclusive portable rig. Maybe I'll grab one and throw a Joyo American Sound in the loop.

Seems very versatile! I had a quick read through the manual and it's not clear if the USB port acts as a sound device, or is just for firmware updates? In fact the manual doesn't mention the USB port at all from what I can see.

Looks like the manual (PDF dated 2017-06-22) doesn't mention anything about Impulse Response either. I'm beginning to think the manual is a bit of a weak point. Maybe they'll update it.

I'm a bit of a fan of NUX pedals, especially after buying their Time Force and Mod Force pedals for $10 (ten!) each brand new at Aldi Mornington on Nepean Hwy of all places. Prior to that I already owned a Mod Core. All three are stereo which is a big plus.

Nice review! Did you feel the lack of a master EQ or preamp? Did you set it in any plugin? Or you recorded it flat as it leaves the Cerberus? I'm asking it because I plan to plug it direct to a mixer in some gigs and I want to know if it really sound good despite not having a preamp... Thanks!

Or you could plug in a clean preamp pedal in the loop of the nux, without any cab sim in the preamp pedal, if you want to use the ir

The Red Truck isn't nearly as comprehensively appointed, Ben. It's great too, but doesn't have the routing, preset, IR or MIDI capability of the Cerberus. Think about what you need. :)

Using a Cerberus in the effects loop of my Marshall DSL20HR, connected with 4-cable method. First impression is it sounds much better this way than into the amp input alone, using the Classic Gain (clean/green) channel. Modulation, reverb, and delay effects sound much cleaner in the amp loop. Because the Boost function currently does not work in Preset mode, I'm going to experiment with using my amp Ultra Gain (drive/red) channel for solo boost, with the channel volume set a little louder than the clean channel. So far, however, I'm content to use only the one amp channel and let the Drive and Dist modules handle the gain stacking. The Drive have a nice, full-bodied (but not muddy) bass response that pairs well with the Dist.

Great video, Brett. However, I want to offer a correction to kzbin.info/www/bejne/jIGWmKCribufhZY . I just bought a used Cerberus this week and have found it does NOT allow saving the CTRL switch's assigned function (Reverb, Boost, etc.) in presets. I emailed their tech support, and parent company Cherub Technology, Inc.'s US Sales office forwarded a response from the Marketing Manager in China saying, "We're developing newest firmware now. It's under testing situation now, we'll add CTRL status store into the newest one." After comparing Cerberus to Red Truck, Black Truck, and cheap combo pedals on Amazon, I concluded that presets and the clean boost set Cerberus apart (Black Truck a close Runner-Up). Those are the features I wanted most in a unit like this, and I'm disappointed that Ctrl status is not saved in presets when seemingly every other function and parameter is. (I gave up my Boss GT-10 for the Cerberus. I spent way too much time programming the Boss and not enough time playing guitar.) The silver lining on this dark cloud is, a fix is on the way!
