Burke left the Canucks anemic, but he told it like it was. He stood up for his team. He was right on most occasions, but something tells me the NHL is turning into the WWE. They want certain teams to win the cup, and Canadian fans don't need a cup to keep them engaged, so no cup for a Canadian team.

Hawks are looking to trade Stalberg because he could be due a nice raise and that could put the Hawks in a bigger hole financially. Hawks have one of the best team prospects in the league. Guys like Saad, Pirri, McNeill, Teravainen, etc are easily 1-2 years away from playing full-time in the NHL.

thr problem is everyone seems to think Burke built Anaheim when all he did was inherit a team that Murray built and get lucky by having Pronger and Niedermeyer basically handed to him. Notice a pattern now? McDonald gone, Penner gone, Bertuzzi in, Weight in...(yes, I know Bertuzzi's gone). Point is, Burke is a veterans coach and can be counted on to turf youth for experience. Ken Holland is a ten times better GM, but doesn't crave attention like Burke does.

@bluesgurugod Lupul a bum? Versteeg didn't fit in well with Toronto so he traded him...I've seen more out of Lupul since the Leafs got him than I did out of Versteeg all season. Burke has made some genius trades since he's come here. All his deals look better and better as time goes by, especially now looking at the Kessel (with Kabs) trade with Boston. Phaneuf was a steal...and from what I hear nowadays, Stamkos, Richards or Stasny are definitely coming to T.O. if Burke wants it.

I am Habs fan and Brian Burke is my favorite GM of all time. I knew that he wasn't going to be in Toronto for a long time. Why? Not only is the fan base retarded, but it's the same reason why he wouldn't last in Montréal. The media runs those two franchises. Players simply don't want to play there. They grow up cheering for Toronto and Montreal as kid's but they don't want to play for them. Why? They are just not fun market's to play for because of the media. And for those stupid people who are going to respond by saying that isn't true, it doesn't count when a guys best years are behind him and he wants to retire with 1 of those teams. Expectations aren't going to be very high for a guy who is between 38-45 years old.

It's amazing to me that someone with that great of a life who's profession is hockey is that much of a miserable person. He tries to be clever and persuasive, yet in the process, makes problems worse with his repeatedly smart ass remarks. Of course Brian Burke is a classless GM, he's a friggin' lawyer. He was a no-talent hockey player that played around 50 games in the NCAA with a total of 7 points. Mind you he brought Anaheim a cup. Sorry Burke but Dan Cloutier was the reason Vancouver lost to Minnesota, plus add to the fact Todd Bertuzzi and Ed Jovanovski were running their mouths on how the Wild should get the golf clubs early and telling Wild fans not to bother getting tickets to game 6. And for shame on you for not getting an elite goaltender...Dan Cloutier was garbage to begin with and yet with 3 30 win seasons I could still see he was injury prone and garbage.
