His lyricism is damn good. Hard to find music these days that make you feel every chord and lyric the way he does. Everytime he makes music, I want more.

How this man paints a picture with his song writing is absolutely one of the coolest things I've witnessed . His voice just compliments the music. No one can perfect this talent the way Brian does . I feel as if I've actually lived the experiences he sings about. He just has that kind of influence . Very powerful.

I literally started crying when I really paid attention to these lyrics. Brian Fallon is a national treasure. He'll never dethrone the Boss, but he will always sit at his side.

For the life of me, there really are no words that can adequately describe the gnawing sensation that comes over a couple when they ruin good, innocent love. Watching something so special and profound being torn apart by misconceptions, trivialities, and miscommunication and neither of you lifting a finger to save it. I don't know if anyone will truly be able to describe this particular level of hell, but Fallon comes damn close.

I own everything Brian has ever put out and seen him live a couple of times, so it’s safe to say I’m a huge fan. My favorite record of all time will always be Elsie....that being said, I’m not going to lie, this album had to grow on me. I didn’t love it at first, but I think I understand it a little better now.

I love this song and in fact whole album. I can predict Local Honey will top my Spotify 2020 review at the end of the year. I’ve been in love with each song one at a time and today is the day I fell in love with a Vincent. As far as song meaning goes here is my perspective: It’s an explanation from Jolene to Vincent, her lover, about why she can’t see him anymore (she killed her abusive partner). Jolene believes she is forgiven all her sins (with the possible childhood exception) meaning she doesn’t feel guilty about killing her abusive partner, this is possibly why she doesn’t ask Vincent for forgiveness, she just wants to explain. As to the unforgiving childhood sin, it implies Vincent and Jolene knew each other in youth and perhaps her sin was choosing the other partner over Vincent but we can’t know for sure. It talks about wanting becoming a need and I feel that this is tied up with the childhood sin somehow, or perhaps it alludes to addiction. Jolene sounds like a bright spark slowly being drowned until she finally breaks free, but in breaking free she loses the one she loves. I’ve never wanted peace for a person from a song as much as I do for Jolene.

Been thinking about this one for days, tells a Great story and leave enough blanks for you to try to fill in on your own.ive never thought about a book or movie this much after it was done becuse you often get all the answers at the end, with this one i found that music can be the better storyteller. Not always for what it told, but what it left out. Art at its finest

My name is Jolene, but I hate that song I was baptized in a river when I was young And Jesus forgives me for all of my sins 'Cept maybe that one when we were kids Came from south Texas' killer party scene Somehow, the wanting turned to a needing Had a decent boyfriend 'til he got mean He'd hit me so hard that the room used to spin So, say that you love me before we both end up in hell I'm not asking for your forgiveness I couldn't run if I wanted to now Say that you miss me Tell me sweet, sweet little lies Humor me, Vincent After tonight, I won't be home for a while I would fly solo to the rodeo dance And cover my bruises in a Maybelline mask Wait 'til he passed out, he did it most nights I'd go to meet Vincent and to come back to life And nobody knew, but inside I would break There was always this screaming, in between, I'd just wait One night, I suppose, finally drove me insane I stabbed him once and I stabbed him again So, say that you love me before we both end up in hell I'm not asking for your forgiveness I couldn't run if I wanted to now Say that you miss me Tell me sweet, sweet little lies Humor me, Vincent After tonight, I won't be home for a while I used to love the smell of the carnival How the tilt-a-whirl setting us free I'm sure gonna miss the summer How the lights used to light up in me But I better go Vincent, I love you more than you know God bless you, old friend I don't think that I'll ever see you again My name is Jolene, but I hate that song I was baptized in a river when I was young
