Great talk. I think that Greene is our greatest explainer of the new frontiers of physics to a popular audience.

Great talk. I think that Greene is our greatest explainer of the new frontiers of physics to a popular audience. I just wish he explained a little more carefully to the kid who asked the second question. It's not so much that you time travel to the future instantly due to extreme gravity and velocities, It's just that time slows down for you relative to an observer traveling at a sub-relativistic speed.

It's a great leap forward in human progress, that every scientist on the planet can still say : " I don't know " .... and then take it from there. No magic - no dogma : just imagination and discovery !

13:08 just because you can travel faster than the speed of light doesnt mean you can go back to the past, you could travel further away and observe the past again but you cant send a message back!!!!

@SuperMagnetizer r u sure gravity is weak underground.. I thought it is other way around. It gets weaker as you go above.

Going forward in time seems fairly underwhelming. When I hear "time travel", I think of cool, mysterious science/magic. The way it's possible is essentially to just freeze or slow time around you and let everything else progress at the "normal" rate. Anyone else seem to find that underwhelming?

I know it's this was a Comic-Con lecture and I'd hate to sound... I don't know... bitter? unappreciative of the work science popularizers such as Brian Greene do? Anyway I just wanted to say that I really think there's a LOT more value in teaching science FACTS than crazy hypothesis that may not be proven in the next 100 years if ever... And please, PLEASE when speaking about phenomena such as quantum entanglement don't make examples such as this: 16:05. PLEEEEEEEEASE???!!!

Isn't the concept of multiverse is misunderstood version of hypotheses space? The cosmic Memory would blow up if the Designer had allowed the all the possible configurations of system states to co-exist in the preexisting structure. It looks like string theorists are beginning to compare the universe to some intelligent computing machine in which tens of thousands of possible events can be generated and sharing the system resources at the same time.

@KennyReddwooddforest i think ur right, there was some tests conductd last decmber at cern and subsequently at america. they are still testing it further.. whatsoever.. but this is startling..

OK, we think of everything in space as being circular. Solar system, Galaxy. So if there if multi universes, a round universe touching a round universe will have "dead" spots. Because circles never have sides that align with themselves. That is to say if a universe was square, it all makes sense. But is the universe is round, then we have to account for the space, in between space. That diamond shape. Are planets in this mystery separation? Really interested in a response. Call me. S

13:15 Brian Greene fail. A particle moving faster than light still takes time to arrive. What he should have said is that the FTL particle would arrive before he had the possibility of knowing about it via light.

The reason why is myth of multiverse is discussed by physicists, is because it would overcome the awkwardness resulting from the big bang. i.e God created the universe.

Gravity and relative motion affect the speed (space interval divided by time interval) of light, not time and space. The video is pure propaganda. The CERN neutrinos did not travel faster than light, but they did exceed c. Light would have done the same, over the underground (reduced gravity) path the neutrinos took. Very few of the sheeple will understand, try to understand, or believe this.

Since when did PBS have to go to Comic Cons to promote their science documentaries (facepalm*)? How come Through the Wormhole season 3 wasn't presented? How come I can go to a comicbook convention and see comicbooks in the a small table and the other 90% of the convention overtaken by corporations? Its that its a lame excuse for money makers to cache in on a private event now payed for by big corporations. Comic Cons & Co.
