Brian you are the man I just recently started using a frog I have a few different kinds I haven't been doing a good job walking it I could walk it but not good or consistent but after I watched this video I ran down to the lake down the street and was walking the shisnic out of a popping frog I didn't catch anything but I was doing a lot better now if I can keep practicing skipping I'll be good to go Good advice my friend

Thanks Brian, I just started with a frog and was missing the bites so I was looking for some instructions. This is the best video of all of them. You clearly defined what I am doing wrong with the scooting and how to correct it. That kind of instruction is invaluable. I cant wait to get out and try again now. I am learning a lot from you as a beginning bass fisherman. Thanks for everything you are posting.

What you're talking about at @11:30 - @11:45 or so is truth. I tossed a mini frog on a river cove pad line last week and watched a hog torpedo over to it, back out of the water, fast as greased lightning from 4 feet away. The depth was no more that 1' there and while I missed the hook set (counting to 3 feels like years), it proves that shallow water isn't just for baitfish!

Hey thanks for this video. I have this exact lure, the popping frog. I’ve been using frogs of various styles ever since I was a kid. I love top water fishing the most and I’ve probably caught more fish off of a hula popper or a jitterbug than any other. And you’re right - it’s super fun when they come up and blast it! Devils horse is another fave.

Z Man frogs don't get the love they should on the KZbin fishing community. And I've tried a lot of different frogs. I destroyed them this season on mats and cheese. I trim the legs, tweek out the hooks, shove some weights and maybe a jig rattle up the butt on real heavy cover to depress the mats down more.. Usually toss it on a 7'-6"MH fast . 7.3.1 with 50lb braid. Us a straight heavy rod if it's super thick but it's harder for me to walk it. Had a 20lb snapping turtle grab one. Got I'm to the bank. Got the frog out of his mouth without losing a finger and kept fishing and catching with it the rest of the season. They hold real well!

One day I’ll get the hang of it. Have had over 10 blowups on a frog and haven’t been able to set the hook yet, 🤦🏼♂️
@teraleverson30453 жыл бұрын
If you're getting blowups on a frog, theres nothing to else to get the hang of. You're already putting the frog where it needs to be and getting the fish to go after it. If youre setting the hook to early, after you make your cast, turn your head away from your bait as you work it. When you hear that splash, look for your frog. If you dont see, SET THAT HOOK!!!

Yo, will you do more videos like this? It's nice for me as I'm a beginner looking to get into kayak fishing. Understanding your lures is too pivotal. It's like not understanding the machines at the gym that you're using or the exercises that you were doing. You don't understand why you're doing them. Concept to me.

I can't keep the dang things from sinking even squeezing the water out every cast
@johnhancock5173 жыл бұрын
What brand of frog are you using? Cheaper frogs can start filling up with water as soon as it hits the surface. The best one I've found for NOT taking on water is the scum frog. It literally has a big hole in the bottom and you would think that it would sink immediately but that hole doesn't allow the water to get trapped inside. Never have to squeeze out the water either. It just runs out as soon as it leaves the water. Booyah pad crashers are a good cheaper frog. I haven't tried z-mans frog yet but it's on my list to try. Keep at it. It took me a while but when I finally got that first one, I knew there was nothing else that compares to a frog bite.👊
@N2theBlue13 жыл бұрын
@@johnhancock517 the zman and the booyah. The booyah is better but still frustrating to the point I’ve given up on them
@johnhancock5173 жыл бұрын
@@N2theBlue1 you must have gotten a bad pad crasher. They do take on water but I can usually go 4 to 5 casts before it's a problem. Never had one sink completely. Maybe try a scum frog.

I love it…..”the Stevie wonder’s”. Gotta love how you put things into perspective and truth for walking a frog. Real!! You and maybe three other pros can ever say that in todays cancel culture.
